MSNBC continues to allow its hosts and their guests to spew blatantly racist bile.

Case in point: Speaking Tuesday evening about Republicans’ opposition to H.R. 1, the radical Democrat bill that would federalize America’s election systems and drastically weaken election integrity laws, host Joy Reid made a patently bigoted remark directed specifically at Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who is Hispanic.

What you see here on your screen is what Republicans fear in the voting booth and they’re going to do everything they can to make sure it doesn’t happen, including Stephen from ‘Django Unchained,’ aka Ted Cruz, who’s working to stop fellow people of color from voting, which is amazing,” she said.

The suggestion was that Cruz is a traitor to his race like the house slave “Stephen” from the 2012 film “Django Unchained.” In the film, “Stephen” joins his master in terrorizing other slaves so that he can rise up the chain and be granted more privileges than them.

The senator did not take kindly to the insinuation.

I appreciate MSNBC lecturing me on how people of ‘my race’ are supposed to vote. This arrogant condescension is a big reason Hispanic voters are moving right in large numbers,” he tweeted Wednesday.

He added, “Also, why is MSNBC ok with their hosts using overt racial slurs (‘Stephen from Django’)?

Good question.

Look:

MSNBC has in recent weeks become a hotbed of blatant racism, though this racism has received zero attention from the mainstream press and those ostensibly tasked with holding the mainstream press accountable (CNN’s Brian Stelter, The Washington Post’s Margaret Sullivan, etc.).

Around the start of the month, host Tiffany Cross called black Sen. Tim Scott a “token” and mocked his upbringing, describing it as a story of a man going “from cotton to clown.”

Around the same time this month, both an MSNBC host and his panel of guests accused Scott of being a “poster boy” who “sold out” and is “carrying the water” for the Republican Party.

What Reid said about Cruz wasn’t even the only incendiary remark she’d made that evening. Earlier in the broadcast, she accused him and the Republican Party of wanting to stop all black people from voting.

Her rage was inspired by remarks he’d made earlier that day at a Senate hearing in which he’d compared H.R. 1 to Jim Crow.

“Ted Cruz says a lot of stupid things. He does a lot of stupid things. But I personally, as a person of color, as a black person, am beyond offended that he would dare use the word Jim Crow, when his party is literally a Jim Crow party at this point, trying to suppress the votes of people, including in his home state,” Reid responded.

To be clear, slavery and Jim Crow are legacies of the Democrat Party, not the Republican Party.

Directing her attention to one of her guests, NAACP official Janai Nelson, Reid then added, “You work for an organization that has been fighting against Jim Crow, including Jim Crow voting laws, which were specifically designed to stop black people from being able to vote. … Ted Cruz could give a damn about Jim Crow. He’s never raised one concern ever in his entire life that I have ever heard about Jim Crow or racism or discrimination.”

Fact-check: FALSE.

The senator has repeatedly spoken out about the discrimination applied against Asians via affirmative action, a discriminatory policy that Reid predictably supports. He’s also spoken out against anti-Christian discrimination.

Listen to her remarks below:

Virtually everything the MSNBC host said was false. Republicans are not trying to restrict voting rights and suppress the votes of black people.

Republicans on the state level have been trying to implement reasonable election integrity reforms that are supported by a majority of Americans.

However, Democrat operatives like Reid have attempted desperately to portray these widely supported measures as somehow racist. They’ve simultaneously claimed that Republicans’ opposition to H.R. 1 is also rooted in racism.

During his Senate floor speech Tuesday, Cruz explained how the exact opposite is true.

“Jim Crow laws were bigoted, racist, and disenfranchise millions of people. It is worth remembering that those Jim Crow laws were drafted by Democrats, they were implemented by Democrats, and they kept Democrats in power,” he said.

“Today’s talking point repeated in the media is, ‘That was the Democrats of yesterday, not today. Well, today, the Democrats are doing it again. This legislation, to use a phrase that has been popularized in the media recently, is Jim Crow 2.0,” he added.

His assertion was based on the fact that H.R. 1, mockingly known as as the “For The Swamp Act,” is a power grab that would keep Democrats in power in perpetuity.
