‘Who’s saying that?’: Newsmax reporter grills befuddled Psaki on Biden’s light schedule, Wuhan leak theory

White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared as confused as President Joe Biden does daily when she was recently confronted with actual questions from a real journalist.

At yesterday’s press conference, Newsmax White House correspondent Emerald Robinson asked tough questions. She dared to ask about Biden’s “relatively light schedule” that has been glaringly light on public appearances since he took office.

Robinson asked, “There’s a growing perception that this is really just the third term of President Obama. What do you say to people who say that?”

“Who were saying that, who’s saying that?” Psaki responded, avoiding the question.

“You’ve heard that a lot in the media,” said Robinson.

“Who in the media?” Psaki asked, still appearing to deflect.

Robinson gave Psaki a solid example of Biden’s absence in the public eye. She asked about the one (and only) in-person public meeting with another world leader, Japanese Prime Minister Suga. A meeting that Biden didn’t even attend, and sent Vice President Kamala Harris in his place.

Robinson didn’t stop there.

She asked about the United States funding dicey gain of function research and the lab leak theory at the Wuhan laboratory. The lab leak theory suggests that COVID-19 may have been leaked, intentionally or not, from the virology lab in Wuhan, China. Again Psaki put up what seemed like an invisible shield and told Robinson to go to the National Institute of Health to find out about the funding.

But Robinson didn’t stop there either.

She continued to grill Psaki to attempt to find out what the President’s opinion was on the “lab leak” theory given that Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Health, has attempted to discredit the theory. Robinson explained that many officials in the Biden administration have contradicted Dr. Fauci about the lab leak theory including top officials at the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who have all said the lab leak theory can’t be ruled out.

She pointedly asked, “who does the President agree with, Dr. Fauci or the other officials?  Was it a lab leak?”

Psaki suggested that a credible, independent investigation needed to be done in cooperation with China. Psaki apparently forgot that there was an investigation into the Wuhan laboratory and the Chinese government maintained such tight control over the process that they had veto power over which scientists were allowed to take part in the mission.

Psaki does not always seem so confused when taking questions. In January, she enthusiastically gushed over the color scheme of Air Force One, even commenting to the reporter that it was “such a good question.”

Psaki is far different from her counterpart in the Trump administration. Twitter users called her out for her inability to answer questions and made some question their own sanity.
