CNN left-wing commentator Don Lemon angrily ranted and raved before the start of his program Monday evening about CNN contributor Rick Santorum.

It took several minutes of fellow network commentator Chris Cuomo calming him down with soothing words and telling Lemon that he loves him for the host to finally brush the anger off his shoulder and formally start the show.

At issue were remarks Santorum made last week in which he asserted that, prior to the arrival of the Europeans, the American continent had been a virtual dead zone devoid of the Judeo-Christian cultural institutions that now comprise it.

The remarks provoked furious backlash from the “woke” left, prompting the former Republican legislator to appear on “Cuomo Prime Time” Monday evening to explain that he hadn’t been trying to disparage Native Americans.

“I was not trying to dismiss Native Americans. … I was talking about, and I misspoke in this respect, I was talking about the founding and the principles embodied in the founding,” he said.

But Lemon wasn’t satisfied with this clarification. Before his show, “CNN Tonight,” formally began Monday, he launched into a six-minute rant.

I’m breathing heavy right now. … I was watching the interview in my office. I cannot believe the first words out of his mouth weren’t I’m sorry, I said something ignorant, I, you know, I need to learn about the history of this country,” he complained.

The history of the United States didn’t exist before the Europeans arrived here and established the institutions that now form the basis of American society.

“No contrition, didn’t talk about, you know, the suffering that Native Americans have had to deal with in this country. It was, I mean, Rick Santorum, really? Who, did he think, did he actually think it was the good idea for him to come on television and try to whitewash the whitewash that he whitewashed? I mean, it was — it was horrible. It was horrible and insulting, and I apologize to the viewers who were insulted by it,” Lemon continued.

“Because I was sitting, I sit in my office, furious because he’s done it so many times. So many times, and it’s just I’m sorry, it was just, it was so egregious and insulting and everything that we talk about, about the founding of this country, Europeans did not found this country. It was here, the Native Americans had this country before the Europeans came,” he added.

Fact-check: FALSE.

America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and values that originated from the Europeans, not the Native Americans.

Lemon then continued for a couple more minutes with this false argument, up until Cuomo interjected to urge his fellow commentator to not “just echo the outrage” but to think deeper.

“You got to find out where it comes from,” he said, though it’s unclear what he meant by “it.”

“I don’t even know about the outrage,” Lemon replied.

“Yes, you do,” Cuomo said.

“No, I don’t,” Lemon repeated.

“That’s why you’re wrong,” Cuomo pressed.

“No, I don’t know about the outrage,” Lemon insisted.

“That’s why you’re wrong,” Cuomo maintained.

Considering that Lemon was practically yelling, it seemed like he had a point.

He continued by claiming that he’d brought Santorum on to his show “because I want people to see what this is. There is no mystery for you guys.”

According to Cuomo, Santorum’s remarks are part of “a wager being made on the right, that they can get enough white people to believe that they are targeted, that there has been a perverse cultural shift and that they are being replaced.”

It’s not clear what the realities of America’s demonstrable demographic changes have to do with Santorum’s points.

“But Chris, I think people already know that. I think people know that,” Lemon replied.

Cuomo claimed they don’t.

“If that were true, then that party wouldn’t be as formidable, and the Democrats wouldn’t be as vulnerable as they are in the upcoming midterms,” he said.

To him, the Democrat Party’s growing weakness is a result of Republicans fooling the population. The notion that the Democrat Party is overreaching with its pursuit of “woke” politics simply doesn’t register with Cuomo.

Yet this overreach is certainly registering with the far-left readers of The New York Times. Check out the top-voted comment below that was posted last week in response to an opinion piece about the Democrat Party’s descent into “wokeness”:

The discussion between Lemon and Cuomo eventually concluded with the latter commentator announcing his love for the other.

“What I’m saying is, what’s the solution? What’s the fix? If it were as he’s wrong, you’re right, we wouldn’t be here. That’s all,” Cuomo said.

“We got to go, because we’re not going to agree,” Lemon replied.

“I agree, because I know we are coming from and I love you, Don Lemon,” Cuomo said.

“Yes, I love you too,” Lemon said.
