Rob Smith: People are sick and tired of politics influencing every part of life

Americans have reached the saturation point with woke corporations, especially in the entertainment space, hectoring them with left-wing politics and social justice platitudes, according to conservative activist and U.S. Army vet Rob Smith.

To make sure virtue-signaling corporations and advertisers continue to get the message, however, consumers should reach for their remote and other devices and keep “voting with your eyeballs and you vote with the ratings,” Smith advised.

“People are tuning out of this stuff; the ratings for the Oscars are down, the ratings for ESPN are down, the ratings for sports are down. People are rejecting this at every turn…people are just over the woke culture,” Smith further told “The Next Revolution” host Steve Hilton on the Fox News Channel.

The duo was reacting to a Marist Poll suggesting that a clear majority of the country thinks that corporations and professional sports teams should steer clear of trying to initiate social change, which has become trendy, particularly in the past year. Insofar as the sports industry is concerned, the NBA has gone all-in on that philosophy, and in a very recent example, MLB abruptly pulled the All-Star Game from Atlanta over a new Georgia voting law.

“And the thing about this is…it doesn’t even matter if it’s left or right. I think people are over politics influencing every aspect of their lives when they just want to be entertained,” Smith added. “I just want to be entertained.”

“I’m old enough to remember when you used to have to go to a cable news network when people wanted politics,” Smith quipped. “Now it is everywhere.”

Hilton and Smith praised Dana White, president of the ascendant UFC, for asserting that the mixed-martial-arts promotion will be politics free.

Smith also seemed to be alluding to crypto firm Coinbase and software maker Basecamp for banning divisive politics on the clock when he noted that “what I like about these new companies that are saying ‘we are gonna get out of this woke culture, we are not going to talk about politics in the workplace, we are gonna stick to just doing the work.'”

Going forward, an optimistic Smith explained that “when people stop watching, and these advertisers and these networks know that people are tuning out, they’re going to turn the politics down, and perhaps then we can go back to getting entertained again.”

During the discussion, Hilton called attention to the 2021 Oscar Awards show that celebrated “dreary” movies that hardly anybody saw.

Viewership for the self-congratulatory telecast produced by liberal Hollywood on April 21 hit an all-time low; it was also down about 60 percent from 2020, which is a massive fail.

This turn of events prompted independent journalist Megyn Kelly to take to Twitter to write: “How’s all that incessant, insufferable woke, depressing lecturing via film, interviews, social media & at the actual, awful awards show going, Hollywood?”

An anonymous Oscars producer supposedly told the New York Times that ““minute-by-minute post-show ratings analysis indicated that ‘vast swaths’ of people turned off their televisions when celebrities started to opine on politics.”

In a previous appearance on “The Next Revolution,” Smith, among other things, urged corporations to grow a spine when dealing with the woke mob and recommended that rank-and-file conservatives adopt the boycott tactics that traditionally were part of the left-wing toolbox.
