Embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is going on tour, and if that wasn’t enough on its own to drive the liberal media insane, he’s doing so with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the controversial freshman Republican from Georgia.
The dynamic conservative duo, perhaps the “most canceled” two people in Congress, are holding an America First Rally at The Villages, a mostly Republican retirement community in Florida.
Gaetz announced the tour in a radio ad for the May 7 event in Florida, according to Politico.
“The radical left is coming for you. And they know I’m in the way. Come stand with me as we fight back together against this radical president and his far-left agenda,” Gaetz said in the spot.
It’s not clear what other cities Gaetz and Greene will visit in support of their “America First” agenda, but you can be sure the media will be paying attention.
“Together, they plan to attack Democrats and call out Republicans they deem as insufficiently loyal to former President Donald Trump, such as the 10 GOP House members who voted for his second impeachment after the Jan. 6 Capitol riots,” Politico reported.
Commenting on the event Thursday in a statement, Gaetz detailed the focus of the tour.
“There are millions of Americans who need to know they still have advocates in Washington D.C., and the America First movement is consistently growing and fighting,” Gaetz said. “The issues that motivate us include ending America’s forever-wars, fixing the border Joe Biden broke on day one, prioritizing Americans not illegal migrants, reshoring industries sold to foreign adversaries, ensuring real election integrity, and taking on the threat of the Chinese Communist Party. These issues are bigger than any one election and we remain ready to take our party and our country back.”
Gaetz headlined a Women For America First summit at the Trump National Doral in Miami in early April, and just last week Greene headlined an America First Rally at the Indian River County Fairgrounds and Expo Center.
The media seized on a remark from Rep. Greene that the presidential election is “not over.”
“No matter how upset you are about the presidential election and no matter what you’re seeing in the news, it’s not over,” she said. “You want to know why? I’m there. And guess what else? This is bigger. All of you are here.”
Decidedly pro-Trump, Gaetz reportedly faces a federal investigation into allegations that he paid a 17-year-old girl to travel and have sex with him.
And while there has been plenty of rumor and innuendo, little evidence has surfaced to support the claim.
The latest salvo aimed at the lawmaker involves an alleged letter long-time associate Joel Greenberg wrote to Roger Stone that references a minor girl.
“From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App, or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman,” the letter supposedly said, according to The Daily Beast.
