Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican, believes he knows the real reasons why Vice President Kamala Harris, who’s supposed to be in charge of the southern U.S. border crisis, keeps visiting every other place in the country save for the border.

In two tweets posted Friday afternoon, the senator mocked his former colleague for visiting the northern border state of New Hampshire that day instead of the border.

“GPS got confused,” he wrote in his first tweet.

Look:

The joke is that she’d been headed to the border, but her GPS directions — like the GPS directions used by drivers — took her to New Hampshire instead.

“Montreal is going to invade,” he added in his second tweet.

Look:

The joke here is that there isn’t an influx of illegal aliens flooding across the southern U.S. border but rather an influx of Canadians flooding across the northern border.

Ted Cruz has got jokes!

His jokes were preceded by the entire New Hampshire Republican Party “welcoming” Harris to their state by blasting her for visiting the wrong state.

“Welcome to the #WrongBorder, VP Kamala Harris! As you travel over 2,300 miles away from El Paso, our country would be better served with an official visit to our southern border, not a campaign trip for Maggie Hassan,” the party tweeted Friday morning.

In a statement, New Hampshire GOP chair Stephen Stepanek said that the vice president’s decision-making made no sense.

“Vice President Kamala Harris would serve our nation better by tackling the crisis at our southern border instead of campaigning with Maggie Hassan near our northern border,” he said.

“Harris last visited our Granite State in 2019, telling supporters that she was committed to fixing the ‘inhumane’ activities towards our country’s southern border.”

But apparently she’d just been telling campaign lies.

As noted by Stepanek, Harris traveled to New Hampshire last week specifically to campaign for Maggie Hassan, who’s up for reelection in 2022.

It’s not clear why she’s more concerned with elections that are 19 months away than with a crisis along the border that continues to worsen.

Speaking on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” on Friday, Kinney County, Texas Sheriff Brad Coe warned that his community “can’t sustain” this surge for much longer.

“Right now, we’re seeing something unprecedented, I’ve worked in this county for 35 years, and we are seeing a vast number of human smuggling events there. I said yesterday, between one o’clock and four o’clock, my deputies had four human smuggling events happen. I’ve got six deputies to cover 1,300 square miles. So this push is keeping my deputies working overtime. We can’t sustain this,” he said.

“We’re seeing property damage that I’ve never seen before. We probably have 100,000 dollars worth of fence damage in the past two weeks where large groups of aliens are cutting fences on private property and walking through like they own the place.”

But apparently, this isn’t important enough for Harris to look into.

“I’ve been talking to a number of ranchers and I told them to keep track of what it’s costing to repair the fences, how much damage they’re doing to their property, the crops, the animals that they’re losing, the money lost, trying to round up these animals and get them back. So give me a bill. Tell me what it’s costing you so I have some leverage or some status when I go to Austin and when I go to Washington to try to open up people’s eyes on what’s going on down here,” Coe added.

Listen:

The situation has grown so dire that Kinney County and neighboring Atacosa County declared states of disaster last week.

“We felt like we had to do something and we want to protect our citizens here in Kinney County,” Kinney County Judge Tully Shahan told station KENS.

Harris has yet to comment on the situation in these counties.

Meanwhile, as of Sunday the vice president had gone 33 days “without taking questions from reporters at a news conference about her appointment,” according to Fox News.

Last month President Joe Biden announced that she would be handling the border crisis that the administration claimed (and still claims) isn’t actually a crisis. But instead of actually handling it, Harris went on vacation.

In her defense, she does have a few somewhat related events coming up.

“On Monday, Harris will meet virtually with Guatemala’s President Alejandro Giammattei and then Tuesday will meet with Guatemalan community groups,” according to Fox News.

In May, she’s slated to meet with Mexican officials, and in June she’s slated to travel to the Northern Triangle region (versus the border).

These meetings and visits are based on her belief that the correct way to resolve the crisis is by tackling the so-called “root causes” of migration.

This strategy differs starkly with the one pursued by the Trump administration. By investing more resources into border security and forcing America’s southern neighbors to do the same, former President Donald Trump managed to drastically reduce border crossings during his time in office.

All Biden had to do was continue these policies, but instead he reversed everything and then assigned Harris to essentially do nothing about it.
