‘Super drunk’ Michigan state rep facing felony charges threated to ‘call Gov Whitmer’ on arresting cops

Michigan lawmaker Jewell Jones found out that he’s not above the law on Friday as he faced felony charges and 2 years in jail after being arrested on April 6 for being ‘super drunk.’

“The defendant’s behavior was so serious that they had escalated to a point that the troopers had to tase and pepper spray the defendant,” Carolyn Henry, Livingston County Chief Assistant Prosecutor, told the court during the arraignment,  WDIV-TV reported.

Born in 1995, Democratic Rep. Jewell Jones was the youngest person to be elected to the Michigan House of Representatives but, evidently, still has some growing up to do.

Several calls to state troopers reported Jones’ alleged erratic driving on I-96. Just after 6 p.m. on April 6, paramedics reportedly arrived at the scene to find a black Chevy with the license plate, “ELECTED” that had crashed.

Jones was allegedly driving the vehicle and during his arrest, he reportedly threatened the cops that he would call Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and refused to provide his identification. Despite having been tased, he allegedly said, “I don’t give a f**k bro, when I call Gretchen [Whitmer] I’ll need y’all IDs, badge numbers, everything.  If you strike me it’s going to be bad for you, if you hit me it’s going to be very bad for you.  I’ll call Governor Whitmer right now.”

Police reports indicate he repeated the threats multiple times and told officers, “I run y’all budget, bro,” citing the governor’s name.

Henry said, “he continued to be confrontational, uncooperative and using status of importance by flashing badges instead of the IDs being asked for by law enforcement.”

Jones’ blood alcohol level was reportedly double the legal limit, also known as ‘super drunk’ or ‘wasted,’ according to WDIV.  A press release from the Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney’s office indicates the felony complaint against Jones included with “4 counts of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a High Blood Alcohol Content, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Possession of a Weapon Under the Influence of alcohol and Reckless Driving.

Jones was also alleged to have a 40 caliber Glock pistol in his center console.

He issued a video on Instagram Thursday to his over 40 thousand followers, “I’m happy to be alive…We have our good days, we have better days, as long as we got life we have a chance.”

Jones was given a $15,000 personal bond, which means he did not have to post bail.  He has been ordered to abstain from drugs and alcohol and has to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

In addition to his tenure as a Michigan representative, Jones was the youngest person to be elected to Inkster City Counsel at age 20.  He is also reported to be a deacon in his church, an active member of the National Guard and ironically, an auxiliary police officer in Inkster.
