Every so often, CNN reporters play a little game of actually pressing the Biden White House on select issues to further the notion that they truly are a news network and not just an extension of the Democratic Party.
CNN chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins filled this role Monday when she asked Biden’s spokesperson Jen Psaki about inciteful rhetoric from Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., during a weekend visit to the already tense Minneapolis area.
With the nation nervously awaiting the end of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin’s trial in the death of George Floyd, which went to the jury later in the day on Monday, Collins referenced Waters remarks.
“‘We’ve got to stay on the street, and we’ve got to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational,” Collins said, quoting the lawmaker. “Does the president agree with what was said about getting more confrontational?”
“Well, I can speak to the president’s view,” Psaki responded. “He has been very clear that he recognizes the issue of police violence against people of color, communities of color, is one of great anguish, and it’s exhausting and quite emotional at times.”
She reminded Collins that Biden met with the Floyd family last year and said he has been closely following the trial, adding that the president “is committed to undoing this longstanding, systemic problem.”
This being yet another subtle infusion of the radical left’s toxic critical race theory, which declares as fact that America is a systemically racist nation and that all white people are inherently racist. Psaki’s well-practiced talking points further establishes “police violence” as the crisis in America, not the cultural rot in so many Democrat-run communities. A volatile culture where police are left to stand alone on the front lines, dealing with a surge in violent crime, dealing with communities where people have come to believe they have every right to resist lawful commands from a police officer if they disagree with them — see “police acting stupidly.”
Psaki then repeated the tired line that Biden insists that protests must be peaceful — this from a party that apparently doesn’t consider looting and burning buildings to the ground to be violence.
“His view is also that exercising First Amendment rights and protesting injustice is the most American thing anyone can do,” she said. “But as he also always says, protests must be peaceful. That’s what he continues to call for and what he continues to believe is the right way to approach responding.”
Waters, who has a long history of encouraging lawless behavior, went to Brooklyn Park, Minn., over the weekend, where protests have been taking place for days over the accidental shooting death of criminal suspect Daunte Wright, who was trying to flee while being arrested for an outstanding warrant.
In what many saw as an attempt to intimidate the Chauvin jury, which has not been sequestered, Waters all but demanded a guilty verdict for murder.
“We’ve got to stay on the street, and we’ve got to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational,” she said Saturday night. “We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.”
