‘Disgusting’: Border Patrol union chief says Kamala Harris ‘avoids’ border visit to dodge blame

The head of the union representing U.S. Border Patrol agents is calling out Kamala Harris for apparently ducking responsibility for the unprecedented humanitarian and law enforcement crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, as seen in the massive surge of illegal migrants that has caused detention facilities to practically burst at the seams.

Joe Biden tasked Harris to handle the situation, but she has yet to even visit the area for a first-hand look. Trips to Mexico and Guatemala are reportedly on her itinerary, instead.

With that in mind, Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, told Fox News Live host Griff Jenkins, “If she goes to the U.S. border, people are going to expect her to fix the problem, so she avoids it. That’s disgusting because that’s putting politics ahead what’s best for this country.”

Upon taking office, the Biden administration essentially threw open the southern border by, among other things, reversing President Trump’s orderly Remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers and, with disastrous ramifications, bringing back catch and release for illegal aliens initially detained. The adage “elections have consequences” is being played out in real time at the southern border.

“As long as we continue to release people into the United States after they violate our laws, with no consequences, people are going to continue to come. That’s the simple fact,” Judd asserted in the video clip embedded below.

Judd noted that it understandable that people want to come here, inasmuch as this is the greatest country in the world, implying that the U.S. has a generous immigration policy that has “the biggest open arms.

“We want to accept people into this country, but we want to do it legally, not illegally,” he declared.

Judd then chastised both the right and the left for playing politics with the issue, but the left evidently has a lot more explaining to do.

“The left wants to excuse illegal immigration. They want to excuse the cartels abusing these children, taking these children and sexually abusing them, physically abusing them, mentally abusing them. You know, they want to excuse this, and they continue, by policy, they continue to perpetuate this situation.

“It’s gaining cartels ground, and it’s making them billions of dollars every year off of human misery.”

He also warned that as the system is overwhelmed, potential actors with deliberately bad intentions could enter America. “When you couple that with the 61,000 people that were able to evade apprehension in the month of February and March, that is a scary situation for this country.”

Typically the left has favored illegal immigration as a future source of a votes, while the establishment right has seen it as a less-expensive source of labor.

Populist pundits like Tucker Carlson, as well as the MAGA movement generally, have, of course, rejected both sides of this America-last coin.

The Border Patrol apprehended about 170,000 persons in March alone. Agents reportedly take into custody about 500 unaccompanied children each day, and there are currently about 20,000 of these minors housed in U.S. facilities.

Harris’ absence from the border has even prompted U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) to put her photo on a milk carton.
