Scalice breaks out milk carton in old-school roast of VP Harris, who won’t visit border

GOP Representative Steve Scalise is trying to find Vice President Kamala Harris, who he says is “missing at the border.” His method of recovery is old-school, but there is something to be said for returning to the basics.

Scalise turned up at a Republican presser this morning with a carton of milk with Harris’ photo and the caption “Missing at the border: Vice President Kamala Harris.”

This latest jab comes as Harris has refused to visit the southern border, despite the recent and problematic surge of migrants that has filled detention centers to capacity and then some. President Joe Biden tasked her with coming up with solutions to the seemingly unending flood of humanity flowing in from Central America.

However, she will take the time to visit Mexico and Guatemala and was evasive when asked by reporters on Wednesday if she had any plans to visit the southern border in the event that the massive immigration is not curbed.

“So, as I mentioned to the experts, the President has asked Secretary Mayorkas to address what is going on at the border,” Harris explained, and added “I have been asked to lead the issue of dealing with root causes in the Northern Triangle, similar to what the then-Vice President did many years ago.”

But in March, Harris admitted that she didn’t have any plans to visit the border “right now” amid a giggle-fit, saying “but I have before and I’m sure I will again.”

In lieu of visiting the border, Harris hosted a roundtable discussion as part of the White House’s first-ever “Black Maternal Health Week,” accusing “systemic racial inequities and implicit bias” of being the reason more women of color die while giving birth.

“Black women in our country are facing a maternal health crisis. … We know the primary reasons why. Systemic racial inequities and implicit bias,” Harris explained. Despite sounding so sure of her reasoning, later in the discussion, she admitted that more ‘data’ was needed.

“We need to review these cases, when a woman dies in childbirth or shortly thereafter. We need to collect the data. We need to answer the questions by doing the work to figure out what happened, so that we can avoid these tragedies from happening as we go forward,” she said.

However, there appear to be some medical institutions that buy into the same mindset as Harris. In fact, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston has already called for “restitution programs at the institutional level” which effectively becomes “preferential care based on race or ethnicity.”

Dr. Bram Wispelwey and Dr, Michelle Morse, who penned the controversial opinion, firmly believe that “[c]olorblind solutions have failed to achieve racial equity in health care,” and are pushing for “an antiracist agenda for medicine.”

It would appear that Harris has more interest in this line of work than in observing the mess at the country’s southern border.
