Confident the lapdogs will eat it up, Biden admin blames Trump for self-inflicted record border surge

No matter how you spin it, the record number of migrants overwhelming the southern border with Mexico is staggering, as the self-inflicted humanitarian crisis threatens to spiral out of control.

The administration is scrambling to house tens of thousands of migrants who have shown up on America’s doorstep since President Biden took office, even employing U.S. military bases for this purpose.

And through it all, the Biden White House is blaming the Trump administration.

In what amounts to moving the goal post, Team Biden is faulting former President Donald Trump for not having Border Patrol prepared to comfortably receive a flood of migrants inspired by Biden’s pro-illegal immigration policies.

On a call with reporters, an administration official said, “We’re continuing to dig out of the hole left by the previous administration on immigration.”

More from Fox News:

The officials blamed a lack of preparedness from Health and Human Services, saying the Trump administration didn’t ask for additional beds until Jan. 15. It also blamed the prior administration for cutting funding for the Northern Triangle and ending asylum problems.

The official said the new administration has made “significant progress” since Jan. 20, but warned that “no-one should have the expectation it’ll be solved overnight.” The official also called on Congress to act to fix the immigration system.

In reality, the Trump administration largely solved the crisis on the border, but that doesn’t stop Democrats from spinning a lie.

Confident that the media would not call her out for her insanity, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., pushed the myth that the Biden administration has made “significant progress” since Jan. 20, telling reporters this week the U.S. is on a “good path” on the southern border while trashing Trump.

“The fact is that we’re on a good path at the border under the leadership of President Biden,” she claimed with a straight face. “It’s about restructuring how we do what is happening there, because we were in a very bad situation under the Trump administration.”

President Biden pointed his finger at his predecessor during a press conference last month.

“He dismantled all the elements that exist to deal with what had been a problem and continued to be a problem for a long time,” Biden said. “He, in fact, shut down the number of beds available. He did not fund HHS to get people to get the children out of those Border Patrol facilities where they should not be and not supposed to be more than a few days — a little while. But he dismantled all of that.”

But the numbers don’t lie.

Border officials say a whopping 71% increase from February to March, encountering 172,000 migrants at the border last month.

The 172,000 migrants encountered are mostly single adults and included a stunning 18,890 unaccompanied children. In a single month.

Not only is that a 100% increase from February’s high numbers, but it’s also the highest total ever recorded. Overall, Border Patrol has had over 569,800 encounters and it’s early April. This doesn’t include the countless number who enter the country undetected.

“CBP has experienced an increase in encounters and arrests. This is not new. Encounters have continued to increase since April 2020, and our past experiences have helped us be better prepared for the challenges we face this year,” Acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Troy Miller said in a statement. “We are committed to balancing the need to maintain border security, care for those in our custody, and keep the American people and our workforce safe.”

How the administration can fathom that the American people are safe amid a deluge of humanity that’s allowing terrorists and gang members into the country remains a mystery.

In reality, Biden’s amnesty vow for illegal immigrants in the U.S., and a reversal of many of the programs instituted by the previous administration to stem the flow of illegal immigration, including a return to “catch and release,” is drawing migrants by the tens of thousands — some are showing up on the border wearing Biden t-shirts.

And the media is doing its part to convince you that these desperate people are being driven by climate change.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., the House Minority Whip, is touring the border and he said unequivocally, “This is out of control.”

Members of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee ended a two-day tour of the U.S.-Mexico border on Wednesday, and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the ranking member of the committee, had a very valid question.

“Is this intentional, is this deliberate,” the lawmaker said of the surge. “Is the Biden administration deliberately imposing these policies because this is what they want?”
