Former Trump White House senior adviser Stephen Miller slammed the Biden White House over the claim that the previous administration’s polices were “inhumane and ineffective,” and that the path they are charting on what is effectively an open border with Mexico “includes treating children with humanity and respect.”
Putting things into proper perspective in an appearance on Fox News’ Special Report, Miller said the drug cartels are making serious bank on President Biden’s policies and would vote in favor of them if given the chance.
Miller let it be known that the border problem was largely solved by the time Biden took office.
“In 2019, after three years of court battles, we finally succeeded at putting into place the tools that we need to immediately repatriate, return or remove illegal immigrants to their own country or to a third party country,” he explained. “Those tools were fully in place by early 2020, and the border crisis was solved and ended in a permanent and enduring way.”
The former Trump aide said the unaccompanied minor crisis was also solved.

“Between Return to Mexico and our safe third [country] agreements and Title 42 for minors, we had a permanent, complete, enduring, unbeatable fix of the border crisis. You just had to leave it in place,” Miller proclaimed. “Undoing those tools created the nightmare we’re seeing today.”
Responding to White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s remarks that opened the segment, Miller said, “I find it deeply insulting to describe what we did as inhumane.”
“We ended the process of human smuggling and trafficking that destroys lives, that leads to sexual assault, that leads to physical assault, and that finances the cartels, creating the cycle of violence and poverty,” he told Fox News host Bret Baier. “If the cartels had a vote, they’d vote for, unanimously, the border policies in place under Biden.”
“It is making them rich beyond their wildest dreams,” Miller added. “It’s inhumane to push men, women and children into the arms of traffickers, and it’s also inhumane to have a policy that means more drugs get across our border because our border agents are dealing with the humanitarian crisis.”
According to Fox News, arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement are down 65% from when former President Donald Trump left office in January.
“Those drugs are going to end up in U.S. schools and U.S. communities, poisoning American children,” Miller insisted.
Back in early February, Miller warned that Biden’s raft of executive orders loosening immigration and border enforcement would result in a “self-inflicted” crisis in public health.
With over 100 million Americans having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the number of cases are climbing in some areas and there’s real concern about a fourth wave. At the same time, the Biden administration has been releasing migrants into U.S. communities untested.
As Baier noted, there were 170,000 contacts in March alone — and some reports have the total number coming across at 250,000 for the month, accounting for those able to enter the country undetected.
“Under our policies, they were being caught and they were being safely returned to their home countries,” Miller said in February. “Under this president, many of them are being released directly into U.S. communities untested, unmasked, many of them have COVID.”
“It’s a self-inflicted public health crisis and the reason is simple,” he continued. “We created the tools to end ‘catch-and-release.’ In two weeks, Biden has eliminated those tools.”
