Hilton calls for Americans to fight back, explains why ‘wokeism’ is not going away

Fox News’ Steve Hilton called attention to a “new religion” on Easter Sunday known as “wokeism,” which ‘The Next Revolution‘ host said has all the hallmarks of the “most authoritarian regimes in history.”

“There is a new religion stalking our land and it’s rapidly becoming the dominant religion,” he explained. “Certainly, the most powerful one. Just in the last year or so, it seems to have taken over nearly every part of our ruling class, corporate America, establishment media, Hollywood, Silicon Valley and of course, the Democratic Party, which now controls the federal government.”

This religion has core beliefs like “think the worst of everyone, the world is out to get you, victimhood is sainthood, if you are not a straight, white male you are oppressed,” Hilton said, and its own books and its own version of the 10 Commandments.

“The punishment for nonbelievers: canceled, cast out into wilderness, financial and social ruin,” he added. “Of course, wokeism has its own distinct ‘wokabulary,’ speaking your truth, your lived experience. Microaggressions, being an ally.”

Insisting that wokeism is the “biggest threat this country faces,” Hilton said it’s “the product of a hundred year long effort to undermine and tear down the values, ideals and freedoms this country was built on. It is the real enemy within, it has to be confronted and defeated.”

Looking back one hundred years ago to Frankfurt, Germany, Hilton said the origins of this new religion came from a group of Marxists trying to understand why Karl Marx’ theory about the working class rising up failed to take place.

The conclusion was that the revolution was held back by three forces: family, religion and culture, Hilton stated.

“In their view, family, faith and culture were the building blocks of bourgeois society used by the elite to keep the masses oppressed, so they invented a new theory, which explained all this,” Hilton said.

This theory was called “critical theory” and explained how to dismantle those forces — and it eventually made its way to America, at Columbia University. The idea being that academia must shift from education to activism.

Sociologist professor Herbert Marcuse led the movement at Columbia and his 1964 book, “One-Dimensional Man,” laid out a blueprint for social revolution” and “added a racial component,” Hilton further explained.

“The idea was that an alliance of racial minorities, the liberal intelligencia and violent outside agitators would take power,” he added. “Marcuse also pushed something that he called repressive tolerance; the idea that violence by the radical left must be tolerated, but such tolerance should never be extended to the right.”

As the Fox News host noted, America just got a firsthand lesson on this in the past year.

This movement evolved into critical race theory, which has become the dominant on-campus ideology of today. The next important step, Hilton said, was an effort to unite all the various oppressed and marginalized groups “into one overarching theory of social justice.”

Hilton then pointed to many of the left’s policies, some being spouted by President Joe Biden.

“We need to know, that these are the fruits of trees planted a hundred years ago,” he said. “One of the reasons they’ve been so successful is the mastery of language. They hide their vicious intolerant ideas behind words like diversity, equity and inclusion.”

“These positive truths have been hijacked by hateful dogma,” Hilton said. “In service of its radically destructive mission to replace family, faith and culture with allegiance to the new ideology.”

This explains why many young Americans are radically transformed from a political perspective after going to college.

Hilton warned Americans that wokeism is not going away like a fad.

“Wokeism has been marching forward for a hundred years, marching through our institutions, marching through our power centers. Marching through our culture and society,” he said. “It has all the hallmarks of the worst, most authoritarian regimes in history.”

“But, it is more insidious and more dangerous,” Hilton concluded. “It is the enemy within and right now it is winning. We need to wake up. We need to overturn wokeism with our own revolution. Fight it where you see it, stand up to that cancel culture, call them out. They are wrong and we are right.”
