With the Biden-inspired crisis on the southern border getting worse by the day, and the United States reportedly holding more than 18,000 unaccompanied minors in its custody, the woman tapped to manage the whole fiasco is busy wondering when she can hang the curtains in the vice president’s mansion at the Naval Observatory.
Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but to hear CNN tell it, two months after being sworn into office Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Georgetown Law professor Douglas Emhoff, are “still, ostensibly, living out of suitcases, unable to move into the private residence reserved for the vice president because it’s still undergoing renovations.”
One might think that since Harris is allegedly “living out of suitcases,” a trip to the border to see firsthand the effects of enticing tens of thousands of migrants to flock to America would be an easy task, but since President Joe Biden tapped Harris to be his border czar last week, there are no known plans for her to travel south or address the issue.
The Biden administration continues to insist the border is closed, yet just approved $86 million for hotel rooms last week to house migrants as existing facilities overflow, well above capacity. The irony here being that White House press secretary Jen Psaki cited the pandemic to justify not allowing reporters inside these facilities, even as migrants are packed in as tight as sardines.
Harris and her husband are living temporarily across from the White House at Blair House, the president’s luxurious official guest quarters.
WOW. so @KamalaHarris (ex girlfriend of WILLIE BROWN) is “frustrated” living at Blair House. Guess if she can’t hack the Canopy Bed, it’s unlikely she’ll dig the Space Blankets they’re using at the BORDER. Hey KAM, @tedcruz is busy doing YOUR JOB. GET WITH IT! pic.twitter.com/A5g8LdLj2I

The Blair House features a full-time staff of more than a dozen people to tend to their every need, offering amenities expected from the best luxury hotels. But CNN reports that the residence “does not offer the laid-back vibe Harris and Emhoff are said to prefer when they are home. The couple enjoy a more casual, West Coast informality.”
An anonymous administration official told the network the vice president’s desire to move into the VP mansion grows more intense with each passing day.
“She is getting frustrated,” the source said.

Complaining that the renovations are taking so long, administration sources said the situation has left Harris “increasingly and understandably bothered,” CNN noted.
And while Harris can’t make it to the border, she apparently popped in at the residence during the renovation.
The article said she was seen at the residence three weeks ago, making an hour-long visit. Gushing that Harris likes to cook, CNN said she requested work be done on the kitchen.
Sabrina Singh, Harris’ deputy press secretary, said in a statement Sunday that “there is no work being done on the kitchen at the Naval Observatory residence.”
Could this be the source of the complaining?
More from CNN:
It is not unusual for there to be at least a couple of weeks between residents, so the Naval staff who operate the home can refresh, said Elizabeth Haenle, who served as vice president residence manager and social secretary for former Vice President Dick Cheney. “From time to time, the Navy will ask the vice president and their respective families to delay moving in so that they have time for maintenance and upgrades that are not easy to perform once the vice president takes up residence,” Haenle said.
Shortly after inauguration, a Harris aide told CNN the vice president wouldn’t be immediately moving in, citing the need for some repairs to the home “that are more easily conducted with the home unoccupied.” A move-in date was still to be determined at the time. Another administration official told CNN some of the work included renovating the home’s chimneys — there are seven working fireplaces — as well as other updates.
Biden was very complimentary of the VP residence, where he lived for eight years.
While complaining about what Associated Press referred to as living in the White House “gilded cage” last month — picking up on a trend? — the president lamented about not having the same experiences living in the Executive Mansion.
“You’re on 80 acres, overlooking the rest of the city,” he said of the VP residence. “You can walk out, and there’s a swimming pool. … You can ride a bicycle around and never leave the property, and work out — but the White House is very different.”
So Kamala Harris is “frustrated” with her disadvantaged accommodations at Blair House? Well, Kamala, how do you think all of the children you & Joe have jam packed into pods smelling of urine & vomit feel about their accommodations? They don’t even have suitcases to live out of! https://t.co/vCKJocnIis pic.twitter.com/liuYebyBYm
