Photos of Biden’s cheat sheets explain why they called a lid on presser early

After a softball solo press conference on Thursday during which he repeatedly stumbled over his words and reportedly read from “cheat sheets,” President Joe Biden called a lid for the day.

The announcement came at 3:26 pm, a time so early — though certainly not unusual for a man dubbed “Sleepy Joe” — that the accusation emerged that the fairly easy, softball question-laden press conference had worn him out already.

“The White House just called a LID. That’s all Biden could handle for the day,” Amber Athey, an editor for The Spectator USA, opined on Twitter.

It certainly seemed that way.

Athey’s thesis provoked a spate of mockery aimed at the president.

Keep in mind that 3:26 pm is earlier than some senior citizens eat dinner. Though again, it wasn’t unusual. Just this past Monday, the White House called a lid at 1:13 pm.

After the presser, images emerged of apparent “cheat” sheets that Biden had used to guide his way through the event. Some of the sheets listed off facts, while others contained photos and names of journalists next to numbers.

The lid was called about an hour after former President Donald Trump appeared on Fox News to slam the Biden administration for its lack of transparency.

“There is none,” the former president bluntly said on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus.”

He added, “And, you know, I guess you’re supposed to have a press conference on Thursday. But the questions will all be softballs. … It’s ridiculous the questions that are asked. What did you have for dinner? What kind of ice cream do you have, as he walks out? They never talked to me that way. That’s OK.”

While the questions asked during Biden’s first solo press conference Thursday weren’t quite that soft, they were fairly close, with almost all of them being leading ones designed to promote the Democrat Party’s agenda.

“One of the defining challenges you face in the coming months is how to deliver on your promise to Americans on issues like immigration control, gun control, voting rights, climate change. All of those right now are facing stiff, united opposition from Republicans on Capitol Hill. How far are you willing to go to achieve those promises that you made to the American people?” one reporter asked.

The most sycophantic question came from PBS White House correspondent, frequent MSNBC contributor and known grievance monger Yamiche Alcindor, who framed the border crisis as a matter of “immigrants” coming to this country because of “the perception of you that got you elected as a moral, decent man.”

Listen:

Despite question after question after question — none of them from Fox News, predictably — that all appeared as biased and soft as the two cited above, Biden still felt it necessary to call a lid.

Amazingly, it all happened exactly as Fox News contributor John Cardillo predicted it would:

Members of the press did indeed rush forward to lavish him with praise.

“Journalism”

Meanwhile over at The Washington Times, a non-left-wing outlet, Kelly Sadler portrayed things a tad differently.

“After the press conference ended, the Biden administration called a lid. It was all our commander in chief could handle for the day,” she wrote.

“The press conference didn’t break any big news — which Team Biden probably views as a success. Now they can tuck Mr. Biden into bed, and our foreign adversaries can come out to play, as he will be asleep for the next 18 hours. Elder abuse.”

Sounds about right
