‘It’s just a different world’: Trump rips softball Biden presser, border disaster and humiliating China exchange

In a wide-ranging phone interview Thursday with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden for wrecking the border, excoriated the media for their sycophancy and drew attention to the ongoing riots by left-wing extremists still occurring in certain sectors of the country.

Lasting over 25 minutes, the interview on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” began with the former president contrasting his successful border policies with Biden’s failed border policies.

“We had the border the most secure. … We built almost 500 miles of wall, and it was new wall. … In addition to that, Mexico worked great with us. … They gave us 28,000 soldiers along our border, and they stopped people from coming in,” he said.

“And what you are doing now and what you’re seeing now is inhumane. These children and people are — a tremendous a number of children, by the way — but they are living on top of each other, in squalor. And this is squalor.”

Biden’s promises of amnesty and other goodies triggered a border rush so severe that detained illegal alien adults and children alike are indeed having to be stuffed into overwhelmed holding cells like sardines in a can.

While the same thing briefly happened during Trump’s administration, he abruptly rectified it by instituting tough restrictions that greatly disincentivized further illegal immigration and thus caused border crossings to decline exponentially.

The former president added that, unlike Biden, he had allowed members of the media to enter and examine the administration’s illegal alien detention facilities. And also unlike Biden, he would have never released COVID-positive illegals into the country.

Also, if he were still president, Trump added, the wall along the southern U.S. border would still be in the process of being built — versus having been cancelled.

“They should finish the wall. … It was almost completed, but it took two-and-a-half years to get the final signoffs from the court victories that we had. … We won the lawsuits and we built almost 500 miles. They should immediately seal it up and finish it up, and you would see a lot of good things happen.”

The interview then turned to Biden’s disastrous first solo press conference, which had occurred at the White House earlier that afternoon.

What made it so disastrous was how the president repeatedly stumbled over his words despite being handed softball question after softball question.

“It was like softballs, like you are throwing softballs up, and it’s just a different world. … They are easy questions. I noticed Peter Doocy didn’t get to ask a question today. And there could be no difficult questions. And they were ready to rip the microphone away if somebody did get a little bit testy. You know, he just — look, the whole thing is ridiculous. You know it, and so do I,” Trump said.

The former president was right. The select list of reportedly handpicked journalists who were called to ask Biden questions didn’t include anyone from Fox News, the one and only major mainstream outlet that doesn’t function like a propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

After talking a bit more about the media and the border crisis, the discussion then pivoted to the Biden administration’s new war on terror. While it’s obvious the administration is intent on targeting conservatives, Trump was adamant that the focus should be on the Black Lives Matter and Antifa extremists who continue to wreak havoc in certain sectors of the country, particularly Portland, Oregon.

“What I’m concerned about is Antifa and BLM and some of the horrible things that we witnessed. .. Just over the last few weeks, they’ve been having massive riots and other things in Portland. .. They’ve been burning the city down, and nobody does anything about it. And they don’t go after those people,” he said.

“They go after people that I guess you’d call them lean toward the right, and they wave American flags. In many cases, they are waving the American flag, and they love our country. And those people, they’re arresting them by the dozens, but they don’t go after Antifa, who kill people, by the way, who burn down our cities,” he added.

This is true. It’s common practice for left-wing extremists to be released and then later have their charges dropped. Meanwhile, many conservatives caught engaging in equivalent behavior is targeted with the full force of the law.

“They don’t talk about BLM. They don’t talk about any of the other groups that are on the left that are really dangerous, that are very, very dangerous and that truly hate our country,” the former president added.

The interview then moved on to Democrats’ attempt via H.R. 1 to weaken election security laws and the media’s false framing of the GOP’s opposition to the radical bill as a revival of Jim Crow.

“Jim Crow is their most often used term. … I notice it’s constantly being used, but they’re trying to get something with no voter ID, no signature verification, send all the ballots you can. You’ll never have another fair election in this country,” Trump said.

He then suggested that the 2020 election was illegitimate.

“If you look at the last election, it was disgraceful. It was a third world election. Legislatures didn’t approve much of what happened. Our Supreme Court should be ashamed of themselves,” he said.

Moving on, the former president then addressed what happened last week when Chinese officials humiliated Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the world stage.

Using the left’s own “woke” grievances as a cudgel, the officials lectured Blinken that the Biden administration has no right to lecture China about its human rights abuses given that, according to Democrats, America is itself a racist, horrible place.

“We never had anything like that happen. That was an embarrassment. It was an absolute embarrassment to our country. I could not believe it. I couldn’t believe the meeting. Even the location,” Trump said of the lecture.

“We should have walked out. Nobody ever talked to my group that way. Nobody ever talked to me that way. I can tell you that. And if they did, I would have doubled up the tariffs, which frankly, were something we probably should have done anyway.”

Next up for discussion was the former president’s vow to create his own social media network.

“There are reports that you’re going to go start your own social media company. Is that how you plan to fight back against these tech oligarchs?” Ingraham asked him.

But Trump kind of avoided the question. Instead, he described the success he’s been having to get his message out through press releases versus tweets.

“What I’m doing now, I almost like it better. I think I do like it better. … We’re issuing press releases. We’re no longer constrained by a certain number of characters. We’re no longer put under, you know, the magnifying glass,” he said.

“So I put out statements now from the office, and the statements are picked up by everybody. I mean, it actually works better. Now, with that being said, we may open up our own platform, but the putting out of statements … it gets to everybody.”

Asked about life outside of the White House, the former president concluded the interview by saying that he’s “enjoying it” quite abundantly, though not as much as he’d enjoyed “doing good things for this country.”

“I’m enjoying it, and still working very hard and so many different ways. But, you know, I must tell you, I am enjoying it. But what I really enjoy is doing good things for this country. And we were doing things like nobody’s done,” he said.
