Meghan McCain bows to John Oliver & woke-mob, apologizes for backing Trump’s China Virus language

Always eager to be portrayed as hip to the latest politically correct narrative, a move than ensures her role as co-host on “The View,” Meghan McCain posted a tweet last week denouncing “Asian hate” after the shooting in Atlanta that killed eight people, including six people of Asian descent — the gunman dismissed race as a motivating factor.

The left used that incident to blame former President Donald Trump for calling the coronavirus the “China virus,” or “Chinese plague,” in response to suspicions that it originated in a Wuhan, China lab. This serving as a convenient distraction from the humanitarian crisis exploding on the U.S. southern border.

Unfortunately for McCain, British comedian John Oliver called her out on Sunday, highlighting a clip from a March 2020 episode of “The View,” in which McCain said she had no problem with Trump referring to COVID-19 as the “China virus.”

And with that, the contrite daytime talk show co-host took to Twitter to cave, fully capitulating to the liberal narrative that Trump is a racist.

“I condemn the reprehensible violence and vitriol that has been targeted towards the Asian-American community. There is no doubt Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric fueled many of these attacks and I apologize for any past comments that aided that agenda,” McCain tweeted.

“I think if the left wants to focus on PC-labeling this virus, it is a great way to get Trump reelected,” McCain said last year. “I don’t have a problem with people calling it whatever they want. It’s a deadly virus that did originate in Wuhan.”

Oliver responded on his show Sunday to suggest that calling COVID-19 the Chinese virus is “dangerous.”

“Oh good, Meghan McCain doesn’t have a problem with it!” he said. “Listen not to the scores of Asian Americans telling everyone that the term is dangerous and offensive. Instead, gather around and take the word of a wealthy white woman who’s dressed like she’s about to lay off 47 people over Zoom.”

Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera came to McCain’s defense, slamming Oliver as “an unfunny self-righteous punk.”

While there was plenty of piling on in support of Oliver, here’s a sampling of a few other responses to the story from Twitter:
