It seems that at CNN, which considers itself “the most trusted name in news,” the threat posed by the coronavirus only exists sometimes.
When Black Lives Matter extremists “protested” and rioted last summer, it didn’t seem to exist at CNN. Nor did it seem to exist when left-wingers gathered in large groups to celebrate President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory last year.
Likewise, as hundreds of students gathered on the campus of Emory University this Friday in Atlanta to reportedly “catch a glimpse of” the president and Vice President Kamala Harris arriving for an event, again it didn’t seem like the threat existed anymore.

Notice that CNN’s Jeff Zeleny’s tweet about the event contained no gripes about the clear-cut lack of social distancing among the students at the school.
This same lack of concern wasn’t seen in March of 2020 when Zeleny complained about the lack of social distancing at a Rose Garden event.
The Rose Garden is a big, beautiful place this time of year — much better than the crowded press briefing room. There’s plenty of room for a little social distancing, folks!

Nor was it seen three months later:
Once again, President Trump does not take questions at said “news conference” https://t.co/hbz84i6h9e

To be fair, these tweets were posted at the very beginning of the pandemic.
But by the same token, the violent Black Lives Matter riots of last year also occurred at the very beginning of the pandemic, yet they provoked a very different response from all of the media.
Thousands of Americans, like my mom, were unable to attend the funerals of friends who died from COVID-19 out of respect for social distancing guidelines.

“Just about a month ago, when protestors surrounded the Michigan state capitol from the safety of their cars, with about 75 or so people scattered outside on the capitol grounds, all we heard is that they weren’t social distancing, that it was extremely reckless, that Michigan would pay the price in a new outbreak of infections,” National Review editor Rich Lowry wrote on May 31, 2020.
He was correct.
Protesting is a 1A right! Conservatives protested peacefully but were branded as racists, while BLM, Antifa roam around looting, setting fires and planting bombs all over various cities. LIBERALS are a danger to society.Follow me as we expose MSM!pic.twitter.com/Hu5h7bSX3R

“Now that we have enormous crowds gathering in cities all over the country to protest the death of George Floyd, the talk of the importance of social distancing has almost completely disappeared in the media, and Democratic officeholders don’t talk about it anymore, either,” Lowry added.
He was correct again.
Months later in September, a CNN medical analyst went so far as to posit the dubious claim that BLM protests/riots were perfectly safe but campaign rallies by then-President Donald Trump were somehow dangerous.

Democrat politicians also joined in the hypocrisy.
Look:
But it wasn’t just in response to Bethany. Here’s @NYGovCuomo, who’s overseen the worst disaster in NY since 9/11, and performed about as poorly as one could.
He’s also encouraging protests now, as looters and vandals destroy NYC. pic.twitter.com/EDgUkePkw1

Let me get this straight:
Nancy Pelosi won’t let Congress get back to work because of a lack of social distancing
…Yet she’s walking around in massive protests?
Why are we still paying her salary if this is how she spends her time?

Even so-called public health “experts” got in on it.
Back in June, over 1000 “experts” penned an open letter defending BLM protests/riots and claiming they were somehow different from lockdown protests.
“[W]e do not condemn these gatherings as risky for COVID-19 transmission. We support them as vital to the national public health and to the threatened health specifically of Black people in the United States,” the so-called experts wrote.
The hypocrisy over masks has been just as galling.
Recall when CNN chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins, a frequent mask cop, was caught immediately removing her mask moments after the conclusion of a White House press briefing.

Speaking of masks, watch as Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who were also present at Emory University this Friday, removed their masks to speak with the press, despite there being no real distance between them:

It’s almost as if the mask-wearing was all for show.
