Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced legislation on Friday that seeks to reduce legal and illegal immigration as the Biden administration continues to face a mounting migrant crisis at the border.
Called the “Protect American First Act,” several provisions of the bill appear to emulate former President Donald Trump’s tougher border and immigration enforcement policies.
“The ‘Protect America First Act’ is the most comprehensive and thorough piece of border security legislation introduced in the 117th Congress,” Greene said in a statement. “When enacted into law, the [bill] will end the flood of illegal border crossing unleashed during the first 50 days of the Biden Administration.

“Joe Biden is rewarding human traffickers and coyotes who smuggle illegal aliens across the border. My bill will end these Democrat-created incentives by stopping all immigration during the Biden Administration,” she continued.
The freshman Georgia Republican added that her bill “will fund and finish the wall, fund sanctuary cities, expedite removal of illegal aliens, repeals Biden’s radical executive orders, and so much more.”
According to her statement, her bill:
— Puts a four-year moratorium on all immigration
— Speeds up the time between apprehending illegal immigrants and deporting them
— Assures that the government safely returns unaccompanied alien children while also ending so-called “chain migration”
— Increases deportation of criminal aliens
— Provides support to local law enforcement for assisting with federal immigration enforcement
— Gives Immigration and Customs Enforcement more tools to detain and deport violent aliens
— Resurrects former President Trump’s “Zero Tolerance’ policies on illegal crossings
— Revokes the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program
— Cuts foreign aid to Central and South American countries whose citizens caravan to the U.S. and attempt to cross illegally
It’s not yet clear if Greene’s legislation has any co-sponsors.
Last week, in an interview with Newsmax TV, Greene suggested that many of her fellow Republicans in the House were more closely aligned with Democrats on many bills than their constituents.
“The American people are disgusted and fed up with business as usual in Washington, and around here it’s unfortunate that some of my Republican colleagues have the attitude of ‘Let’s just kick back and put our feet up on the desk and allow the Senate to defend (against) all of the woke progressive disgusting bills that come out of the House of Representatives,’” she said.
“And I have nothing to do with that. I think Republicans in Congress, we should be fighting back on every single front and doing everything we can to push the messages, as hard as possible, straight into (Speaker of the House) Nancy Pelosi’s face that everything she’s trying to do to the American people is repulsive, it’s embarrassing and she should be fired,” she said.
Greene’s comments came after 40 House Republicans voted against her motion to adjourn and delay a vote on the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill many in the party opposed.
A GOP analysis of the massive bill found that less than 10 percent of it actually goes to provide economic relief from the effects of the pandemic.
“This is what Republican — our voters want us to do. This is what our donors want us to do. And this is what America needs desperately for us to do,” she said.
