Fauci cool with winging it: ‘When you don’t have the data or actual evidence … make a judgment call’

Dr. Anthony Fauci is at it again, as the nation’s leading expert on infection diseases seems determined to convince folks that he’s just winging it as he goes along, much like people believe weather forecasters do.

One year after the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, Fauci spoke with CNN’s John Berman about the ongoing battle to defeat COVID-19.

At one point, Berman asked about why traveling has not been deemed safe for those who have been vaccinated, asking what the science was behind the decision.

“We know from the Biden administration that they say it will make their decisions based on science. What’s the science behind not saying it’s safe for people who have been vaccinated, received two doses, to travel?” the network anchor asked

“You know, that’s a very good question, and the CDC is carefully heading in that direction,” Fauci replied. “You note, when we — when Dr. Walensky made the announcement a day or two ago about the fact that when you have a couple of people, two or three or more people in a family setting, both of whom are vaccinated, even if it’s someone from another — a friend, it doesn’t have to be a member of the family, that was the first in a multi-step process that they are going to be rolling out.”

“They’re being careful, understandably. They want to get science, they want to get data,” he continued. “And when you don’t have the data and you don’t have the actual evidence, then you’ve got to make a judgment call.”

In effect, they make it up as they go along — which he said to expect more of in the coming days.

“I think that’s what you’re going to be seeing in the next weeks. You’re going to see little by little, more and more guidelines getting people to be more and more flexible,” Fauci said. “The first installation of this is what can vaccinated people do in the home setting? Obviously, the next one is going to be what you’re asking. What about travel? What about going out? What about getting a haircut? What about doing things like that? That’s all imminently going to be coming out.”

His mention of CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky above was in reference to her announcing Monday fully-vaccinated folks can gather with other vaccinated people indoors without a mask or social distancing.

This coming just a few days after Fauci said Americans should keep wearing their masks and social distance after getting the vaccine because they can still spread the coronavirus.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham hit the nail on the head when she tweeted: ” This man actually thinks he has the authority or credibility to dictate what we can do in our own homes.”

Political commentator Dave Rubin went so far as to say Fauci “should be ignored.”

“The Infallible Fauci is a fraud and should be ignored at this point,” he tweeted. “Go live your lives instead of praying at the altar of overpaid government stooges who are drunk on power they never intend to give away.”
