Sen. Kyrsten Sinema enrages libs with dramatic ‘thumbs-down’ vote on minimum wage plan

Moderate Democrat Rep. Kyrsten Sinema enraged the Democrat Party’s far-left base twice on Friday by first rejecting a $15 minimum wage amendment in an ostentatious way and then defending her decision by using the left’s own tactics against them.

Sinema’s day of uppercuts began that afternoon when she and seven other Democrats voted to reject a motion by Sen. Bernie Sanders to sneak a $15 minimum wage provision into the ostensible coronavirus relief bill that’s currently being considered.

While the left aimed backlash at all eight senators, Sinema wound up receiving the brunt of it because of the way in which she’d announced her vote.

Watch:

Some suspect she used a dramatic thumbs-down gesture to announce her “no” vote in honor of former Arizona Sen. John McCain, who in 2017 used the same gesture to prevent the then-GOP-led Senate from repealing Obamacare.

Watch:

Regardless, the congresswoman defended her “no” vote in a Twitter statement by arguing that injecting a minimum wage provision into an ostensible coronavirus relief bill is inappropriate and that the issue should be debated separately.

“I understand what it is like to face tough choices while working to meet your family’s most basic needs. I also know the difference better wages can make, which is why I helped lead Arizona’s effort to pass an indexed minimum wage in 2006, and strongly supported the voter-approved state minimum wage increase in 2016. No person who works full time should live in poverty,” she said.

“Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the COVID-focused reconciliation bill. I will keep working with colleagues in both parties to ensure Americans can access good-paying jobs, quality education, and skills training to build more economically secure lives for themselves and their families.”

However, the statement did nothing to alleviate the rage emanating from a Democrat Party that believes it’s entitled to a $15/hour minimum wage.

Look at a sliver of the backlash below (*Language warning):

Blue checkmark elites also raged at the senator.

Look:

Keep in mind Sinema supports a $15 minimum wage, despite the grave problems inherent in such a proposal. She simply wants the issue debated separately. But even this isn’t good enough for a radicalized Democrat Party base that’s rooted in entitlement.

As for the merits of the idea itself, last month the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office announced that a $15/hour minimum wage would destroy at least 1.4 million jobs by 2025.

It’d also devalue the work of millions, because anyone already earning $15 or more per hour would not be granted an increase in wages. Meanwhile, the spike in the minimum wage would engender an increase in the price of goods and services, meaning those who earned a $15 or higher wage the hard way would suddenly be able to afford less than before. How is that fair?

But does the far left care about any of these consequences of a $15 minimum wage? It appears not.

Dovetailing back to Sinema, she infuriated the Democrat Party base again later Friday evening by slamming the leftists who’d been complaining about her dramatic thumbs-down.

Sinema’s office responded to a question about the gesture by making the absurd claim that the inquiry is sexist,” HuffPost, a far-left outlet, huffed and puffed.

Commentary about a female senator’s body language, clothing, or physical demeanor does not belong in a serious media outlet,” the congresswoman’s spokesperson reportedly told the outlet.

See what she did there? Hilariously enough, she used the left’s own “absurd” identity politics rules against them. Touché.

However, by attempting to hold the left to their own standards, leftists accustomed to being allowed to perpetuate endless double standards lost their ever-loving minds.

Apparently, women are no longer allowed to dress as they’d like. And oh, it’s now perfectly OK to call women the b-word and c-word. Who knew!?
