After years of politically themed Golden Globes shows, the annual award show is reportedly set to air its first non-political ceremony this year.
Speaking this week on NBC News reporter Jill Rappaport’s podcast, one of this year’s hosts, Tina Fey, revealed that for once, they just want to have some fun, as reported by Page Six.
“We just want to make it a fun hang out for people at home — kind of a stress reliever, so I don’t think you can expect much politics at all. It doesn’t seem like a venue for political jokes,” she said.
The actress and comedian will be co-hosting the show with Amy Poehler. They’ve previously hosted the show together several times.
Regardless, Fey’s remarks were odd given that Hollywood celebrities spent four years using every Golden Globes show to be overtly political.
Last year, actress Michelle Williams used her acceptance speech to promote abortion:

Actor Russell Crowe complained about the alleged threat of man-made climate change and linked it to the Australian wildfires in what was perceived as a jab at then-President Donald Trump’s dismissive attitude toward the unconfirmed theory.
“We need to act based on science, move our global workforce to renewable energy and respect our planet for the unique and amazing place it is,” he said in a statement read by Jennifer Aniston at the time.
Actor Jared Harris meanwhile revealed that the question posed by the show that he starred in, “Chernobyl,” was “what is the cost of lies.”
“That question becomes more relevant with each day’s news cycle,” he then added in another jab at Trump.
Meanwhile, actress Patricia Arquette used her acceptance speech to rip into then-President Donald Trump’s allegedly problematic policies, particularly his elimination of Iranian military general and terrorist mastermind Qasem Soleimani.
“I’m so grateful to be here and celebrate this but also I know tonight, January 5th, 2020, we’re not going to look back on this night in the history books. We will see a country on the brink of war, the United States of America,” she bellowed.
FYI, America never went to war with Iran …

Now fast-forward to the present. This week, President Joe Biden ordered an air strike in Syria without congressional authority, yet Hollywood celebrities seem entirely uninterested in calling him out either on Twitter or the awards show.
Hollywood celebrities have been equally quiet about Biden’s detainment of illegal alien children, Biden’s sexism and his attacks on the free press. What changed? Twitter users have some theories.
“Kids in cages, Muslims enslaved in China, Asians being attacked on our streets, but Denocrat’s are in office so I guess we don’t have to resist any longer and all is fine with the world as far as woke Hollywood is concerned,” one Twitter user sarcastically wrote.
Or put differently by somebody else, “We don’t make jokes about ‘our guy.'”
Sounds about left.

Probably because they definitely don’t have anything good to say about Ol Joe but they definitely aren’t gunna say anything bad so… What else can they do other than not talk about it.
— Kyle Campbell (@kcamp3) February 27, 2021
Why couldn’t this have been done for the last 4 years??
— Black Truck (@Blacktruck08) February 27, 2021
it’s most definitely because they think with Trump out of office there’s nothing to complain about anymore… which is def not the case

Ohh nowwww we get politics free. Cant be poking fun at sleepy Joe. That’s ageist. Also the Chinese wouldn’t like that.
— Kurt Steiner (@Kurt_Steiner) February 27, 2021
Im sure it will be politics free, now that the candidate they voted for is turning out to be a disaster.

Of course because she/they absolutely do not want to call out or even talk about @JoeBiden and his asinine executive orders or what he’s said and done already in his first 2 months…@DEADLINE @THR @accessonline @EW @etnow @enews @goldenglobes @kirstiealley @RealJamesWoods @GOP

What the elites in Hollywood seem to not understand is that, by purposefully choosing to not be political now that their desired candidate is in the White House, they are in actuality being political — extremely political.
Not that it should come as a surprise, given that the vast majority of Hollywood actors are hardcore leftists — the type who watch MSNBC all day, most likely.
Only problem there is none of the performers, nominees or awards will be anything other than liberal so it is wholly political anyway…..
