A hypersensitive school board member throwing around racial aspersions during an online meeting tried to bully fellow members into going along with her insistence to postpone a vote to reopen schools.
What’s more, the liberal ideologue was so dense she didn’t realize that their virtual meeting was being recorded — this being representative of far too many in education making critical decisions that impact children.
La Mesa-Spring Valley School District school board member Charda Bell-Fontenot told the board that holding a vote “is wrong.”
“That seems like a very white supremacist ideology to force people to comply with, and conform, without thinking about all of their intersecting factors and barriers that exist for all families,” Bell-Fontenot said, adding, ““You’re thinking about one type of family when you’re speaking right now. Just letting you know. Privilege. Check it, you guys.”

“I’m not gonna force anyone to do what they don’t wanna do. That’s what slavery is. I’m not gonna be a part of it,” she was heard saying.
“We don’t have to give anybody any date!” she said at one point. “We don’t have to do anything that we don’t want to do right now. That’s what you don’t understand. I don’t know where you’re getting this information from, who’s telling you that we have to make a decision today, but that is not how this works.”
Bell-Fontenot said the board did not have the information needed to vote, telling the members “you’re speaking from your heart.”
When La Mesa-Spring Valley Superintendent David Feliciano spoke up in defense of the board, she accused him of “racism.”
“I take great offense to the statement that no one on here knows what they’re talking about right now,” Feliciano said.

After Bell-Fontenot turned her ire on the superintendent for allegedly disrespecting her, the board president chimed in to say that should be a private discussion.
“It doesn’t need to be private. Racism doesn’t need to be private,” Bell-Fontenot shot back.
There was also a moment when Bell-Fontenot seemed surprised to learn that the Zoom meeting was being recorded.
“If our meetings were actually recorded for the public, we would know that,” she said.
Like Oakley, she seems unaware she’s being recorded. “If our meetings were actually recorded for the public, we would know that.”
She then suggests they are not easily accessible, however, we found them in about one minute after seeing this recording.

The board eventually voted to open up classrooms April 19 — sort of. Schools will open two days a week, for two hours a day, CBS 8 reported.
Feliciano condemned Bell-Fontenot in a statement, while denouncing “hateful, racist, and threatening” responses she has received.
“She behaved in a manner the Board does not condone, nor did her behavior represent our values and our commitments to our students, community, and to each other,” he said, according to the CBS affiliate. “We have received many emails and calls of great concern from our families and community members. While we were also disappointed and offended by Trustee Fontenot’s behavior, we were saddened to learn that she has received hateful, racist, and threatening communications as a result.”
A petition was launched calling on Bell-Fontenot to resign — as of this writing, there have been 2,515 signatures.
Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
This is insane

This is so wrong. The ridiculous thing is the La Mesa spring valley district is in a lower income area where white is not the majority, not sure what “white privilege” she is talking about. See district stats below. Further, Cajon Valley district next door is open FULL TIME! pic.twitter.com/zYjDIkZMcX

The irony of her telling them to check their privilege when they are clearly refraining from calling her a psychopath because of her “woke privilege”.

Bell-Fontenot needs to resign immediately.
The school board has a mission and they are failing.

She needs to be fired immediately! This is disgusting and she owes her colleagues an apology as well.

LaMesa isn’t even majority white. Anyone who lives in SD county could tell you that. What an idiot. Fire her.
