There was plenty of frustration from the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, with the defending NFL champions’ highly-touted offense struggling throughout the game in a lopsided 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it was the actions of a defensive player on the losing team that’s drawing plenty of attention afterwards.
During the first half of the game, Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu was seen on camera engaged in an intense exchange with Buccaneers QB Tom Brady, and Mathieu would go at Brady again later in the game — Mathieu would be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct in the first exchange.
After the game, Mathieu took to Twitter to accuse Brady of calling him “something I won’t repeat,” though the player must have had second thoughts about the accusation because he’d soon delete the post, but not before Barstool Sports managed to grab a screenshot.
“He called me something I won’t repeat but yeah I’ll let all the media throw me under the bus as if I did something or said something to him… go back to my previous games against TB12 I showed him nothing but respect. Look at my interviews about him… I show grace,” Mathieu reportedly tweeted.
As seen in the tweet, the player was responding to a jab by independent NFL reporter Dov Kleiman, who shared a photo of Mathieu with his finger in Brady’s face.

Brady’s win Sunday pretty much cemented any arguments about who the greatest quarterback of all time is, if there was even any debate to be had. Love him or hate him, Brady won his seventh Super Bowl on Sunday, coming in the 43-year-old QB’s first year with the team.
That stat alone makes Brady untouchable, but he owns every meaningful Super Bowl record a QB could have, having appeared in a stunning 10 NFL championship games in 21 seasons.
It’s likely because of Brady’s legendary status that Mathieu backed away from the whole matter, knowing that he likely wouldn’t fare any better in that battle than he did on the field of play.
After the game, Mathieu spoke with reporters about the encounter.
“I thought I played as hard as I can today,” Mathieu said, according to Pro Football Talk. “Listen, Tom Brady’s a great quarterback. I never really saw that side of Tom Brady, to be honest. But whatever. No comment. it’s over with. I’m done with it.”
As for the game, the most exciting moment may have occurred when a fan wearing a pink outfit with the words Vitaly Uncensored written across it ran out onto the field.
While the attention-seeker made a dash for the end zone, much like Kansas City, he failed to cross the goal line.
