San Francisco smash and grab caught on camera as motorist robbed while sitting in traffic

In an incident caught on video by another motorist, a brazen thief jumped out of a Honda Accord, smashed the back window of a still-moving Prius in the middle of traffic and made off with about $7,000 of photography equipment.

The video was taken by a motorist named Alex, who was driving a Tesla. He shared the footage of the audacious crime on Twitter


A husband-and-wife team of real estate photographers from Iran were reportedly the victims of this broad-daylight robbery on Friday, February 5, in San Francisco at the on-ramp for I-80 as they approached the iconic Bay Bridge after they had completed their work for the day.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for the couple, Ben and Masha, the stolen bag contained “a camera, drone, camera lens, video gear, camera flash and some other accessories.”

Masha, who was behind the wheel that afternoon, had mentioned to her husband that someone was following their vehicle prior to the smash and grab.

With defunding the police, among other things, often gaining currency in cities run by liberal Democrats, crime in America’s urban centers is unfortunately on the rise. As an aside, over the years, frustrated San Francisco residents have posted signs in their cars to the effect that there were no valuables inside as way to discourage criminals from breaking in.

Ben was reportedly able to reshoot some needed footage by borrowing some gear from a friend. Commenting on the incident, he told ABC7 News reporter Dion Lim that “even in the Middle East he hasn’t seen anything like this.”

In the video clip, you can see the understandably upset couple get out of the car after the thief fled in the Honda. Fortunately, neither were harmed. This suspect is still at large.

In addition to crime, rampant homelessness, and urban decay in the once destination city, San Francisco — the home of Democrat U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — sadly recorded nearly three times as many fatal drug overdoses than coronavirus-related deaths in the year 2020.

Despite all the taxpayer money thrown at social programs, the OD total is “a staggering data point that highlights the city’s dire drug epidemic fueled by the powerful painkiller fentanyl,” SF Gate reported in January.

ODs amounted to 699 as compared to the 235 individuals who passed away from COVID complications.

Another publication indicated that drugs are destroying many of the most desirable neighborhoods in a city that distributes hundreds of free needles to users every year.
