The father of a Virginia public school student blasted board members and teachers in a fiery speech that has gone viral online for repeatedly delaying in-person instruction over fears of COVID-19.
“You should all be fired from your day jobs because if your employers knew that you were more inefficient than the DMV, you would be replaced in a heartbeat,” the father, who is wearing a mask, told the Loudoun County School Board during the comment portion of a recent meeting.
Video of the father’s diatribe was posted on Tuesday by Marine Corps vet and former GOP congressional candidate Aliscia Andrews.
“As a parent, this pandemic has brought forth some incredible challenges,” Andrews wrote in her post. “This dad has had enough, we all have. No real metrics to safely open the schools, while the [school board] continues to kick the can further down the road. Many parents feel just as he does.”

The father went on to say that he had to “multitask” in order to even be able to address the board, saying he had just finished a conference call, presumably for his job.
“I literally just finished a conference call because I’m having to multitask to be here to address you guys. You’re a bunch of cowards, hiding behind our children as an excuse for keeping schools closed,” he continued.
“You think you’re some sort of martyrs because of the decisions you’re making when the statistics do not lie, that the majority of the population is not at risk from this virus,” he said, his voice rising and his evident frustration on display.
“The garbage workers who pick up my freakin’ trash risk their lives every day more than anyone in this school system!” he raged, before issuing an ultimatum to board members.
“Figure it out! Or get off the podium. Because you know what? There are people like me and a lot of other people out there who will gladly take your seat and figure it out. It’s not a high bar. Raise the freakin’ bar!” the father concludes.
“Good for him! We need parents to run for School Board! Loudoun has plenty of qualified parents who can lead the way toward a rigorous academic education, making Loudoun a world class example!” one Facebook user wrote in response to Andrews’ post.
Andrews posted a separate video featuring another father who said his non-verbal son is suffering from a lack of education because it’s “impossible” to expect him to sit in front of a computer for hours each day.
“He has regressed a lot. He has trouble standing still for 30 seconds for speaking in front of you. How can you expect him to sit in front of a computer every day, every hour, focus, and get an education?” the father asked. “That’s impossible. Impossible for him and impossible for over 11,000 more kids who are special education with special needs.
“But instead you decide to sweep his problems under the rug and focus on giving raises, new mascots, renaming athletic fields, and a whole lot of PowerPoints,” he continued before being interrupted by the board as his time expired.
He attempted to tell the board that he had signed up for two one-minute slots but members refused to allow him to continue.
