Biden draws ire for throwing up hands on virus: ‘He never had a plan’

After about a year of Democrats blaming and Monday morning quarterbacking President Donald Trump for either doing too much or not enough in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Joe Biden is singing a different tune.

“If we fail to act, there will be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on, because there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months,” Biden claimed last week, after previously vowing that his team would prioritize getting COVID under control.

Over the course of the Election 2020 campaign, however, Biden and the Democrat Party bitterly held Trump responsible for all manner of perceived shortcomings even as the-then president mobilized an unprecedented public sector-private sector, full-spectrum coronavirus initiative which culminated in the rapid emergence of a vaccine program under the appropriately named Operation Warp Speed.

In October 2020, for example, Biden’s Twitter feed bragged that “we’re eight months into this pandemic and Donald Trump still doesn’t have a plan to get this virus under control. I do.” In another tweet, he promised to shut down the virus rather than the economy.

“The idea that nothing will change the pandemic drew confusion and ire from figures in politics and the media,” Fox News reported about Biden’s gaffe, assuming it was a gaffe rather than a reflection of policy.

And as a thought experiment, imagine for a second how those never-satisfied two sectors would have responded if Trump had said the same thing at any time in 2020.

According to some damage control from Xavier Becerra, Biden’s Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee, “I believe President Biden made it very clear, the plane is in a nosedive, and we gotta pull it up. And you’re not going to do that overnight.”

Twitter is not buying the Biden flop-flop. Here is just a sample:

In a walk down memory lane, Joe Biden was in charge of the Obama administration’s response to the 2009 swine flu outbreak. Biden chief of staff Ron Klain admitted last year that “we did every possible thing wrong” in that crisis.

Facemask advocate Biden was also heavily criticized for ditching his mask at the Lincoln Memorial just hours after signing an executive order requiring masks on federal property to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Biden inauguration is apparently all it took, however, for the COVID pandemic to “subside” for some Democrat elected officials who claim to be members of the party of science. California, Michigan and Illinois, among other jurisdictions, are in various stages of unlocking the lockdown and reopening for business.
