After months of vowing to ‘shut down’ the virus, Biden now says there’s ‘nothing we can do’ about trajectory

Only days into his presidency, newly inaugurated President Joe Biden has already broken his number one campaign pledge.

During last year’s presidential election, he repeatedly promised that he would somehow, someway eradicate the coronavirus from America.

Recall what he tweeted on Oct. 30th:

And recall how he repeatedly framed the coronavirus pandemic as a result of then-President Donald Trump’s purported incompetence.

“The president has no plan. He hasn’t laid out anything. He knew all the way back in February how serious this crisis was. He knew it was a deadly disease. What did he do?” Biden said during the first 2020 presidential debate in September.

He spearheaded the development of multiple vaccines that began being rolled out before year’s end, for starters — and despite Biden claiming that the creation and distribution of a vaccine before year’s end was impossible.

“I laid out back in March, exactly what we should be doing. And I laid out again in July, what we should be doing,” Biden then added.

Listen:

Yet months later, it’s now been discovered that “what we should be doing” is apparently nothing. Absolutely nothing.

During a speech delivered from the White House on Friday, Biden specifically argued that Congress must pass yet another round of economic relief for the American people because there’s “nothing” — those were his words — that can be done to stop the virus.

“If we fail to act, there’ll be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on, because there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months,” he maintained.

Listen:

The abrupt about-face was so stunning that even notoriously anti-Trump former Rep. Justin Amash, who literally quit the Republican Party in 2019 because of his distaste for the then-president, was left flabbergasted.

“Haven’t we been told for months that restrictions and mandates were necessary to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months?” he asked in a tweet.

Restrictions and mandates that Trump was castigated for fiercely opposing.

Look:

Amash wasn’t alone in expressing shock — and in some cases annoyance.

Look:

But it gets worse.

Even when it comes to the continued distribution of the coronavirus vaccine, Biden is already failing to meet expectations.

During a coronavirus briefing Friday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the administration’s goal remains the same as Biden had pledged a month ago — to vaccine 100 million people over 100 days, meaning one million per day.

The problem is that this again means doing nothing, because the goal of vaccinating one million Americans per day was already reached by the Trump administration.

“[F]igures show that 1.3 million shots were administered on Jan. 11 and that 1.1 million were given both Jan. 14 and 16. Vaccinations also hit a record-high, 1.6 million on Wednesday, when Biden was sworn into office, according to the data,” the New York Post reported Friday.

With the numbers already exceeding over a million a day, this means that the Biden administration’s continued plan to vaccine only 100 million Americans in 100 days is actually under par.

Yet the administration seems to think that this planned under-performance is “bold and ambitious.”

“So the incoming Biden administration felt it was important to set what was described as a bold and ambitious goal at the time and many doubted we could even get there,” Psaki said during Friday’s briefing.

Even the infamously sycophantic mainstream press has pushed back on this lie, much to Biden’s annoyance.

“When I announced it, you all said it’s not possible. Come on, give me a break, man. It’s a good start. 100 million,” he snapped in anger Thursday after a reporter rightly pointed out that the administration’s goal should “be set far higher.”

Apparently, all he actually intends to shut down is criticism.

Watch:

But when do the American people get a break? After all, they were promised for months on end that Biden would somehow, someway perform a miracle and “shut down the virus” once and for all.

Yet now that he’s in office, all he seems to be doing is backpedaling.
