A surprising number of establishment Republicans bizarrely appear to believe that the success of their respective political futures lies in throwing President Donald Trump under the bus.
One of these unconventional Republicans seems to be Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the eldest daughter of warmongering former Vice President Dick Cheney.
In response to congressional Democrats’ newfound, widely-panned, and poorly-polling impeachment drive against the president, Cheney issued a statement Wednesday declaring her full support for the move. As justification, she blamed him for last week’s riot on the U.S. Capitol.
“The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President,” she wrote.
“The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution. I will vote to impeach the President.”

But she might as well have written “I will vote to destroy my own career,” because that’s how severe the backlash to her announcement has been.

Note what conservative lawyer Will Chamberlain tweeted above: “Republicans cannot be this dumb.”
Yet according to reports, Cheney may not be the only one looking to impeach.
“Republicans have told me if Cheney signs on, she gives them cover to also come out in support,” Politico’s Olivia Beavers claimed on Twitter.
Even soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly agreed with Cheney’s line of thinking that the president deserves to be impeached, though he hasn’t admitted it publicly yet.
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell supports Democrats’ move to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump and is ‘done’ and ‘furious’ with him,” Fox News reported Tuesday, citing various anonymous sources.
“One source told Fox News that McConnell has not made up his mind about what to do about impeachment, and does not see this as a partisan exercise like the previous impeachment effort against Trump. Another source told Fox News that McConnell told associates that impeachment will help rid the Republican Party of Trump and his movement.”
But again, he might as well be pondering whether to vote in favor of destroying not only his own career but the entire GOP itself.

Of course, far-left Democrats who have no inkling of what it means to be a conservative/Republican — and whose entire existence pretty much revolves around disparaging conservatism — are enthralled by this growing sentiment.
Some of them even believe that Cheney’s decision to become the first GOP member to throw the president under the bus bodes well for her future.

The latter left-winger works for The New York Times, a paper whose left-wing employees understand conservatives, as well as atheists understand Christians.
In reality, a place rarely frequented by left-wing zealots, Cheney’s political future in the GOP looks extraordinarily dim, as does her future on the House Republican Conference, which she currently chairs.
“I don’t think she should be the chair of the Republican conference anymore. The reality is she’s not representing the conference; she’s not representing the Republican ideals. She’s out there advocating for others to join her in impeachment — that is wrong, and I think she should resign,” House Freedom Caucus chair Andy Biggs told Fox News Tuesday.
