In what amounts to a reshuffling of deck chairs, Fox News has announced a new programming lineup that includes a new opinion program at 7 p.m. EST, and Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino teaming up for a relaunch of America’s Newsroom.
The new lineup begins next Monday, Jan. 18, and will also include John Roberts stepping aside as chief White House correspondent, to anchor a new two-hour show with Sandra Smith.
“As we kick off a new year, we are excited to announce new changes to our schedule. We have the best-in-class anchors, interviewers, reporters, and talent in all of news media. This new powerful lineup ensures Fox News Media will continue to deliver outstanding coverage for our viewers who depend on the most trusted names in the business,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in an email to staffers.
A rotating group of Fox News opinion personalities will host the 7 p.m. hour, FOX News Primetime until a permanent host is named, the network said.
Fox News’ primetime lineup of Tucker Carlson Tonight, Hannity, The Ingraham Angle, and Fox News at Night with Shannon Bream will remain the same.
Harris Faulkner, who hosted Outnumbered Overtime at 1 p.m EST., will move to 11 a.m. ET with The Faulkner Focus, and Martha MacCallum’s The Story will move to 3 p.m. EST.
The new line up is seen here:
- Bill Hemmer to Relaunch America’s Newsroom, joined by newly-appointed co-anchor Dana Perino
- Harris Faulkner moves to 11 AM/ET with The Faulkner Focus
- John Roberts who is the newly-named anchor of a new two-hour program with Sandra Smith, entitled America Reports, from 1-3 PM/ET
- The Story with Martha MacCallum moves to the new 3 PM/ET timeslot
- New interim opinion program FOX News Primetime debuts at 7 PM/ET
For what it’s worth, New York Times media correspondent Michael Grynbaum claimed over the weekend that Fox News was “finding a path forward” as a “MAGA safe-space,” after the network fell out of favor with many on the right since Election Day.
“Now, in the wake of violence at the Capitol and Mr. Trump’s increasing isolation within his own party, Fox News is finding a path forward: sympathize with the grievances of a Trump-adoring audience that has finally acknowledged its tribune has fallen. Become a MAGA safe space.”
The new lineup doesn’t feature any notable MAGA love.
Competitor CNN, which all but functions like an arm of the Democratic Party, had an interesting take on the new lineup.
The network many refer to as “Fake News CNN,” took a shot at both Fox News and its viewers, reporting: “Fox News Channel is removing one of its only nighttime hours of news coverage and replacing it with a right-wing opinion show, signifying a further shift toward the incendiary programming that Fox viewers overwhelmingly prefer.”
This from a network engaged in a four-year bloodlust in pursuit of a vendetta against the President of the United States.
Not to be outdone, CNN announced its own changes just after Fox News reported on its changes — this too being a reshuffling of the deck.
Liberal anchor Jake Tapper, who gave up on a quest for journalistic credibility and surrendered to his inner zealotry, was rewarded with a new two-hour window for his afternoon show The Lead, stealing an hour from Wolf Blitzer’s The Situation Room.
Tapper will also share his Sunday morning show, State of the Union, with Dana Bash, with each doing two Sunday programs per month.
Other notable changes include Abby Phillip getting her own show, taking over John King’s role as the host of Inside Politics Sunday. The network’s primadonna White House reporter Jim Acosta will take on a new role as chief domestic correspondent and anchor on weekends — with Trump soon gone, whatever would he so in his old role.
Speaking of, reporter Kaitlan Collins has been awarded the task of sucking up to the Biden administration as the network’s new chief White House correspondent.
