Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., led the parade of tone-deaf Republicans standing by the 5,593 page monstrosity of a bill Congress passed this week, that included $900 billion for COVID-19 relief and another $1.4 trillion to fund the federal government.
Amid widespread criticism over how little help was extended to desperate American families, President Trump called the bill a “disgrace,” calling for Congress to increase the “ridiculously low” $600 stimulus checks to $2,000 per individual, or $4,000 per couple.
In a video shared online Tuesday night, Trump called out the “wasteful” spending in a massive bill that signifies all that is wrong with Washington, detailing the frivolous spending, like $25 million being earmarked for “gender programs” in Pakistan to help women get an education and start businesses.
With American business owners being forced to fight with local and state authorities to make a living, losing everything they have worked their entire lives to establish as a result of lockdowns and other restrictions, with the American people having their very livelihoods stolen from them, Graham had the audacity to defend this spending.
Lindsey Graham defends sending millions of your taxpayer dollars to Pakistan because women can’t open up bank accounts without their husbands’ signatures.

“So, yeah, there’s things in there,” Graham said of the relief bill, in an appearance on Fox News. “The foreign aid budget is 1% of all American spending. Pakistan is a place I really worry about; 85 countries a woman can’t open up a bank account without her husband’s signature, she can’t inherit property.”
“If you’re a young girl in Pakistan, life is pretty tough,” he added. “So we’re trying to make life better for women throughout the world.”
It truly is stunning that a politician living in an elitist DC bubble and still receiving a taxpayer-funded salary is that out of touch with the plight of the American people.
Having just been reelected and with another six-year term ahead of him, Graham responded to Trump’s video message calling for more help for the American people with a tweet encouraging the president to sign the flawed bill into law.
“The #COVID19 package, while imperfect, will save jobs and lives. The sooner the bill becomes law – the better,” Sen. Graham tweeted. “It will allow millions of businesses to avoid bankruptcy, deliver vaccines even faster, help those unemployed and provide money for families who are struggling.”
For added measure, the GOP senator dangled the proverbial carrot in front of the American people: “Relief is on the way as soon as the bill becomes law.”

Oh, and Graham urged folks to vote for the Republican senatorial candidates in the Georgia run-off elections, while blaming Democrats, warning things could get worse.
“So this is sausage making, but the Democrats have a say. They run the House. And if they ever get the House, the Senate and the White House, it will be a financial disaster for this country, so vote in Georgia,” he said.
Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
Yea, the millions to Pakistan for liberal gender issues are really going to make America flourish and save lives.

Yeah, well, life is also “pretty tough” for those involved in the 110,000 American restaurants that have been forced to close. 🙄

BREAKING: Congress is helping Pakistani women open bank accounts despite the fact that over 14.1 million Americans are unbanked, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

@LindseyGrahamSC apparently hasn’t talked to women in the US who are struggling trying to work from home and take care of their children. Hasn’t asked them about dwindling pay as their businesses or employers are shut down, jobs lost, and any money saved is disappearing rapidly.

It doesn’t do a damn bit of good to give the government of pakistan $25,000,000. That isn’t going to help the pakistani women. Lindsey Graham needs to remember that the pakistani women can’t vote for him but American women can.
