Having already proven that she’s above shame, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., exploited the death of her father to take a shot at President Donald Trump.
The lawmaker’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed, died in Minneapolis in June at the age of 67. Omar attributed his death to “complications from COVID-19” — on Thursday, she amended that assertion to include “criminal neglect” by the Trump administration.
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., released a memo interpreting an email as evidence of “political interference” by Trump administration officials to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s pandemic response.
“My father and over 300,000 people have lost their lives because of dangerous criminal neglect by Trump and his administration,” Omar said during an appearance on MSNBC. “I agree with Clyburn that it is not enough for us just to issue subpoenas, we have to investigate and prosecute these people who are responsible for these reckless deaths.”

What’s clear is that Democrats and their corrupt media allies are setting the stage for pursuing criminal charges against President Trump when he is no longer in office, as Omar called for the “next administration” to not forget that coronavirus deaths could have been “avoided” and that “people are responsible.”
“We have to investigate and prosecute these people who are responsible for these reckless deaths,” she said.
Clyburn, chairman of the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis, began an investigation into alleged political interference by the Trump administration that centers on an email sent by then-Health and Human Services scientific advisor Paul Alexander — more on that below.
Omar, one of the first two Muslim women in Congress, is no stranger to controversy. She has faced persistent allegations for years that she married her biological brother for immigration purposes, and was caught having an extramarital affair with a campaign consultant while married to her second husband.
She would marry campaign consultant Tim Mynett after her divorce was finalized — Omar reportedly funneled nearly $2.8 million to her husband’s political consulting company since the beginning of 2019, defending the action by claiming “a top FEC campaign attorney” said it was “not uncommon” and that it didn’t violate any laws.
Omar said her father and others who have died from COVID-19 are “not here with us because we didn’t have leaders who cared about their lives.”
“The president, to this day, has not shown an ounce of compassion to the people who have passed away,” she falsely claimed. “My father survived so many things, for him to lose his life to COVID is devastating.”
In a memo released on Wednesday, Clyburn claimed the Health and Human Services Department “hindered” the pandemic response, warning “unless the Administration abandons this flagrant obstruction, I will be forced to start issuing subpoenas.”
“The documents released today reinforce the need for HHS to end its obstruction of the Select Subcommittee’s investigation into the political meddling that has hindered the nation’s response to this deadly virus,” he wrote.
More from Fox News on Alexander’s email:
“So the bottom line is if it is more infectiouness [sic] now, the issue is who cares?” Paul Alexander wrote in a July email obtained by the House subcommittee. “If it is causing more cases in young, my word is who cares…as long as we make sensible decisions, and protect the elderely [sic] and nursing homes, we must go on with life….who cares if we test more and get more positive tests.
“There is no other way, we need to establish herd, and it only comes about allowing the non-high risk groups expose themselves to the virus. PERIOD,” Alexander wrote. “Infants, kids, teens, young people, young adults, middle aged with no conditions etc. have zero to little risk….so we use them to develop herd…we want them infected.”
