When bombshell allegations about Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden’s youngest son, Hunter, broke in October, CNN chose to completely ignore the story in a move so partisan it earned the network the nickname “Democrat State Media.”
With the allegations having now been shown to be credible two months later, CNN is finally barely covering the story — better late than never — while also lecturing other more credible networks for the crime of supposedly covering it too much.
In a rant this past Sunday, CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter — a man whose job is to scrutinize the media —Â excoriated Fox News in particular, a network he’s obsessed with, for scrutinizing the media’s demonstrably poor coverage.
He specifically claimed Fox has a problem with “portion control,” which was ironic considering his own visible problems with portion control.
Watch the full rant below:
“Almost every story somehow relates back to the media. The word media is uttered on Fox more than twice an hour on average. Of course, I’m someone who covers the media full-time, so you’d think I’d be into this,” he began.
But he’s virtually never interested in holding the mainstream establish media accountable and instead prefers providing defense for them, even when they’re 100 percent wrong, and all while trashing non-establishment media outlets.
He’s in effect a clear-cut partisan and arguably a Democrat Party activist. Suffice it to say, there’s a reason Wikipedia identifies him as a “political commentator” …
Stelter then turned to the focus of his ire: Fox’s willingness to report on the scandal surrounding Hunter, the scandal-plagued son of a man who’s poised to become president in a tad over a month.
“We watched every hour [of Fox News] on Thursday and Friday, and more than 50 percent of the hour, more half the hours on Fox, began or started with” the network’s hosts bringing up Hunter, the CNN political commentator complained.
“The news of the federal probe into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs is obviously important. It’s important, which is why CNN’s Evan Perez and Pamela Brown were chasing the news for weeks,” he continued.
While it’s true CNN broke the story that Hunter has been under investigation by federal authorities, it was the same conservative media outlets whom Stelter constantly demonizes who first broached allegations of Hunter’s scurrilous behavior.
And when the New York Post reported the allegations, Stelter himself joined in the chorus of elites who dismissed the allegations as a “conspiracy.”
Look:
Pro-Trump media outlets careen from conspiracy to conspiracy. Newest example: On the same morning that the @washingtonpost front page said “‘Unmasking’ probe concludes without charges,” the @NYPost front page promised “BIDEN SECRET EMAILS.” On to the next!

“So, yes, the investigation is important. We have been chasing it. But so is proportionality, what journalists call old-fashioned news judgment. What is the single most important story? What should be the lead? Well, those decisions are being made every hour, every day. But the Internet has blown up proportionality,” Stelter continued.
“On your Facebook feed, everything is the same size. A New York Times expose that cost millions of dollars to produce really hard work, it looks exactly the same size as a picture of my kids at the park. And they are cute, I am going to frame that picture. I love that picture. But it’s not nearly as newsworthy, right?”
In other words, news from establishment outlets is legitimate, while news from non-establishment outlets is garbage. Why? Because establishment outlets like CNN conduct “hard work” and make difficult judgment calls about “proportionality.”
Keep in mind this sentiment is coming from someone who works for a network that’s conducted in-depth reporting on President Donald Trump’s penis …

“Proportionality is what it’s all about. Bill Kovac and Tom wrote this in the elements of journalism 20 years ago. … Journalists who devote more space to a celebrity scandal than they know it deserves because they think it will sell are like cartographers who drew England and Spain the same size as Greenland because they knew it was popular,” Stelter continued.
“It misleads the traveler and eventually destroys the credibility of the map maker, which brings me back to Fox. These shows destroy their credibility when they lead with Hunter Biden for days on end.”
Is that right?

Brian – you’re slamming someone over portion control?
(referring to your gorging on Avenatti, collusion hoaxes, and racial division – and absolutely NOTHING else) https://t.co/pdZTcKrSv2

“Yes, it’s an important story, but so is the pandemic, so is the vaccine, so is Trump’s denialism. I know why they do it. Fox’s producers believe their viewers don’t want to hear about the pandemic all the time, do not want to hear about Trump leaving office, do not want to face those facts,” Stelter added.
“The producers scour the web for sour news about Democrats instead. Everyone knows Fox is anti-Democrat. The lack of proportionality gets me. Warning viewers not to watch everything else because it’s biased, corrupt. All week long they said the rest of the media was ignoring the Hunter Biden story.”
The media have also been ignoring the scandal surrounding Rep. Eric Swalwell. Why? Because they’re pro-Democrat and anti-Republican.

Thus, the media barely covers scandals pertaining to Democrats but will jump through hoops to attack and smear any and all Republicans.
“Dishonest folks on Fox are pretending the media is covering for Biden. To be really honest, this is how it’s going to be for the next four years. I can guarantee it,” Stelter added.
Indeed, the establishment media are apt to spend the next four years sycophantically covering for Biden and behaving like he’s Jesus Christ, all while pretending that the people willing to scrutinize him are the bad guys.
In a blog post written in response to Stelter’s complaints, renowned liberal scholar Jonathan Turley surmised that Stelter must think “the best portion control is no portions at all.”
“This is the network that exhaustively ran every allegation against President Trump and his family, including a long line of false stories connected to the Russian collusion theory. Yet, Stelter is now declaring that the coverage of the Biden story is simply too much,” Turley noted.
“There was no portion control problem in CNN covering Russian collusion stories that were later debunked. There is no concern about the virtual blackout on coverage of a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee who reportedly was seduced by a Chinese intelligence agent. There is no problem on the blackout on the Hunter Biden. I supposed the best portion control is no portions at all.”
When it’s convenient to Democrats, that is …
