New York Attorney General Letitia James, the radical-left, Trump-hating ideologue who called President Trump an “illegitimate president” and vowed to “use every area of the law” to target the president and his family, offered up a radical prediction this week.
Appearing Tuesday in the friendly confines of ABC’s The View, James said Trump will “step down” as president to allow Vice President Mike Pence, who’d then become president, to pardon him.
“So, he can preemptively pardon individuals. The vast majority of legal scholars have indicated that he cannot pardon himself,” James said when asked her legal opinion on whether Trump can pardon himself.
“What he could do is step down and allow the vice president, Vice President Pence, to pardon him,” she continued. “In all likelihood, I suspect that he will pardon his family members, his children, his son-in-law, and individuals in his administration, as well as some of his close associates. And then I suspect, at some point in time, he’ll step down and allow the vice president to pardon him.”
James, who’s run for office was heavily backed by Jennifer Soros, daughter-in-law of liberal billionaire hedge fund manager George Soros, is pursuing a civil investigation of fraud against the president, while Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is pursuing a criminal investigation — the probes being the best indication that even if Trump’s legal challenges to the 2020 election fall short and he’s defeated, the left will continue to gun for him as a private citizen.
Boasting of a bill she “introduced” in the New York State Assembly last year to get around a possible pardon, an indication of the long game progressives are playing to take down Trump, James ensured the liberal hosts of the show that the president will not escape “justice.”
“It’s important to understand he is pardoned from federal crimes. But he is not pardoned from state crimes,” James said. “Last year, I introduced a bill in the state legislature which would close the pardon loophole, so that individuals such as the President of the United States would not evade justice. It’s important we have this check on presidential powers. … the state legislature, I’m so happy they passed that bill and it is now the law in the state of New York. President Trump cannot avoid justice in the great state of New York.”
Aside from a thoroughly corrupt media establishment, the radical left defining what “justice” is in America may be the greatest threat this nation faces today.
At the same time, the smartest thing Trump could do is to take any legal measures at his disposal today to protect himself and his family.
Democrats have already proven that they will stop at nothing to destroy him. They weaponized the U.S. intelligence apparatus under President Barack Obama to spy on his 2016 campaign, an effort that continued even after he was elected to office.
A sitting director of the FBI tried to set then-President-elect Trump up, and Trump would endure a two-year investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller centered on the Russian collusion hoax. And when that attempt to remove him from office failed, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched her sham impeachment, based on an alleged whistleblower linked to Trump’s chief antagonizers, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., distorting a phone call to the president of Ukraine.
(The irony being that he was accused of doing precisely what then-Vice President Joe Biden was captured on camera doing.)
The four-year-long campaign of persecution, aided and abetted by the media, is all but certain to continue whenever Trump does leave office.
