Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly dished on how she believed the late Roger Ailes would have handled the 2020 election, and her take did not include network talking heads calling Joe Biden “president-elect.”
Kelly told Dan Abrams, host of The Dan Abrams Show on SiriusXM, that Ailes would have made sure die-hard Trump supporters — who she said were “more street fighter, working class-like” — were “represented” in the network’s coverage.
Represented as in reporting on the voter-fraud allegations from the Trump campaign that the elitist media long ago deemed to be unfounded — considering recent polling has shown an overwhelming majority of Republican voters believe the election was stolen, this is a huge audience and explains the drop-off in Fox News viewership.
She said the former network chief would have made sure Trump supporters didn’t feel “there’s any channel in the United States that’s even giving a nod to Trump’s point of view, his arguments or the way they feel.”
“[Sean] Hannity says what he says, Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo are over here, but then you’ve got Bret Baier and Martha [MacCallum],” Kelly said, after noting that Fox News is missing that. “You’re getting different messaging hour-to-hour. And I think people are confused. And I think if Roger were there, he’d be saying, ‘At least get one pundit on in all of these shows to at least make the president’s case.’ And I think they missed an opportunity.”

It goes without saying the editorial direction at Fox News has changed since Ailes was forced to step down as chairman in 2016 amid claims of sexual misconduct — Kelly was among the women leveling such accusations, saying Ailes made “physical advances on her,” telling her he could help her career in “exchange for sexual favors.”
Kelly was asked if Ailes was still at Fox News did she believe on-air talent would be calling Biden “President-elect,” and she threw her former boss under the bus, saying he was “conspiratorial.”
For added measure, she cited him questioning whether Barack Obama was a Muslim, as an example.
“I don’t,” Kelly said. “I think they wouldn’t. Because Roger — maybe people do know this — Roger was much more conspiratorial than people really knew. If you could have heard what he said behind closed doors about any given conspiracy of the day, like, “Is Obama a Muslim?” you would have been pretty surprised.”
In suggesting that there were “a lot of layers… between what Roger thought and what got on the air,” Kelly took a cheap shot at someone at the network, adding “other than on certain shows.”
Would this be Sean Hannity? Perhaps former colleague Bill O’Reilly? Kelly complained about O’Reilly’s behavior as well when at the network — it could be argued that he effectively launched Kelly’s career by featuring her regularly on his top-rated show.
