On Small Business Saturday, an annual event during which Americans are urged to shop at their local small businesses, a large number of Democrat political figures rushed to virtue signal their dubious support for small business owners.
Included among them was vice-presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris.
“Small businesses, especially Black and minority-owned businesses, urgently need relief to survive the effects of coronavirus this winter. @JoeBiden and I are committed to helping these businesses during this pandemic and get them the support they need to thrive in years to come,” Harris claimed on this year’s Small Business Saturday.

What made her tweet seem more like a virtue signal versus a sincere expression of support was the fact that her actions directly contradicted her words.
Case in point: During the George Floyd riots that destroyed countless businesses over the summer, the senator helped raise money for the looters and arsonists who were responsible for destroying those very same businesses.

Over the summer the Minnesota Freedom Fund nonprofit raised money to bail so-called “protesters” out of jail. Except the “protesters” were business-destroying looters and arsonists — not to mention rapists and attempted cop killers as well.
“The Freedom Fund paid $75,000 in cash to bail out a man charged with attempted murder, who is accused of shooting at police during the May riots. … The group also paid $350,000 to bail out a twice-convicted rapist, who is charged in two current cases with kidnapping, assault, and sexual assault,” National Review notes.
Not once during the riots did Harris ever show concern for the direct and non-direct victims of these crimes, including Stephanie Wilford, a disabled Minneapolis woman who burst into tears in May when describing what the riots had done to her.
“I have nowhere to go now [because so many businesses have been destroyed],” she cried in agony during an interview at the time with local station KSTP.
“I have no way to get there now because the buses aren’t running. These people did this for no reason. It’s not going to bring George back here. George is in a better place than we are. And last night – I’m going to be honest – I wish I was where George was because this is ridiculous. These people are tearing up our livelihoods.”

The contrast between Harris’s words and her actions didn’t sit well.
Look at the reaction it provoked below:

Remember when you were fundraising to bail out criminals who destroyed small businesses during the riots?

Maybe you should help the businesses looted and burned by your supporters.

Any idea how many small business owned by black Americans were torched by BLM and Antifa rioters?
LOTS.
But you continue to bail them out and then tweet manipulative sh!t like this? First “unity” now a clear race division? GTFOH. #BidenCheated

How about the BLM riots? Did that affect small businesses??? You know, the riots that you gave money to bail out the rioters?!? #BidenCheated ##HarrisCheated #DemocratsAreCorupt

Also among the virtue signalers were a remarkable number of pro-lockdown Democrat governors who’ve devastated small businesses in their state with draconian lockdown orders yet saw nothing hypocritical about purporting to support small businesses.

Today is Small Business Saturday. California is home to over 4 million small businesses. This holiday season, shop safe and shop local to help support our economy and the over 7 million workers that help keep our small businesses going.

While this #SmallBusinessSaturday may be a bit different than we’re used to, it’s more important than ever to shop local.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom may perhaps be the worst offender. Earlier this month he shuttered so-called “non-essential businesses” again. Worse, he issued the order despite having been exposed days earlier for violating his own coronavirus protocols.
The damage from his lockdown is expected to be catastrophic.
“Despite a partial rebound over the summer, California’s small business revenue was down by 29.3% this month, compared with January, according to Opportunity Insights, an economic indicators tracker based at Harvard University. The number of the state’s small businesses that remain open has dropped by 28.8%,” the Los Angeles Times notes.
“With the possibility of a prolonged economic downturn, ‘many of these closures may be permanent because of the inability of owners to pay ongoing expenses,’ said UC Santa Cruz economist Robert Fairlie, who tracks data for the National Bureau of Economic Research.”
It’s no surprise then that as of Sunday morning, Newsom’s virtue-signaling tweet boasted a 216 percent ratio and counting thanks to critics like these:

This tweet is really helpful Newsom, like breaking someone’s legs and handing them a skate board

You’ve been arguably the most anti-small business elected official in America.
