Some in the media are reporting that President Donald Trump may launch his 2024 campaign as Joe Biden in being sworn in on Inauguration Day, if his legal challenges to the 2020 election fall short.

On that note, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Biden’s running mate, was asked whether she and Biden would be prepared to run against Trump a second time, and with just a single word — and her trademark cackle — Harris replied, “Please.”

Turns out, one word was more than enough for Bloomberg News to report that Harris “scoffs at the idea of a rematch against Trump in 2024.”

“Vice President-elect Kamala Harris dismissed the prospect of a rematch against President Trump, who’s been signaling he could run again in 2024 if he can’t reverse the results of this month’s vote,” the site tweeted.

Citing an anonymous “top aide,” Bloomberg reported last week that Trump told Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien in a Nov. 13 Oval Office meeting that he will run in 2024 if he cannot overturn the results of an election marred by allegations of voter fraud.

All of which prompted a focus on just who the Republican nominee may be in 2024, with a suggestion that it “will be another Bush swamp creature.”

Conservative talk radio host Jesse Kelly initiated one exchange and he was quick to dismiss that idea.

“False. The nationalist/populist GOP shift is here to stay,” he replied in a tweet. “The DC pundit-class will push Nikki Haley in 2024 because they think she’s like them while also being slick enough to fool Trump’s base, who they despise. Then they’ll be SHOCKED when she gets slaughtered in the primary.”

Kelly’s tweet draws attention to what some are calling Trumpism, and whether this  populism mindset will continue on without Donald Trump.

All that aside, popular social media commentator Kurt Schlichter won the internet Saturday when he replied to Kelly to say: “I hate to admit @JesseKellyDC is right but he is. The establishment is going to think they can foist Girl Jeb on us and she’s going to get crushed.”

The big question seems to be, should Trump not be reelected, what becomes of the GOP.

Will the Never Trump cabal attempt to reemerge in the party? Will Trump supporters break off and form a MAGA party? Will Trump be the kingmaker in 2024?

Should Trump not be in the picture then, some exciting options were mentioned by social media users, beginning with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell’s name was also brought up.

Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
