‘Dems are the party of the rich’: Ted Cruz pulls off some easy trolling with a truth that hurts

It doesn’t take much for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to get the left going, but he pulled off some major league trolling when he dared to suggest that Democrats are the party of the rich, while the GOP represents the working class.

The senator was responding to a tweet from Bill Winegard, an assistant professor of psychology at Hillsdale College, who shared some numbers on Twitter suggesting as much, saying it’s part of a “long-term” reversal.

 

“In 1980, the Democrats only won 9/100 of the highest income counties,” Winegard posted. “In 2020, Biden won over fifty percent (57/43) of the highest income counties. Part of this, of course, was due to Trump’s unique character flaws, but it is also part of a long-term Party reversal.”

In sharing the tweet, Cruz stated: “Today’s Dems are the party of the rich. GOP is and should be the party of the working class.”

Stressing that culture matters, Winegard said in another tweet that voters “are voting for candidates & coalitions with whom they share broad cultural affinities.”

Of course, attending a Trump rally would show there’s some truth to what Cruz said, while Democrats mistake their grievance and entitlement class base as the “working class.”

A base that includes many union members, though it has been proven that given the choice, these individuals would bail on their union in a heartbeat — there are just 27 right to work states that don’t require union membership as a condition for employment.

Cruz’s assertion destroys the left’s narrative that Republicans are the party of the rich and the left was having none of that.

With a huge assist from their media allies, Democrats have done a masterful job of convincing low information Americans that the part is run by the “working class” — guess that didn’t see the video if Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s $20,000 refrigerator.

Never Trump ninny Bill Kristol joined in with his liberal pals, taking a jab at Cruz but his desperate quest for attention fell flat.

Of course, any reason to dump on the smug Kristol is a good reason, and that’s just what happened — outside of his liberal cheerleading squad, Kristol’s relevance seems  to be reduced to getting trolled by people on the right who are on to his ruse of ever being a conservative.
