Joe Biden’s transition team unveiled some names on Monday for a potential Biden administration, to include cabinet nominations and White House staff, and an early sign of how shameless the media establishment has become, the picks were widely celebrated — this coming after four years of a Trump administration being panned over every move.
But America’s getting an early lesson on how much influence progressives will have in a Biden administration, as seen when the hard-left faction of the Democratic Party pushed back hard on Rahm Emanuel being considered by Biden for Transportation Secretary.
As a consolation, the former Chicago mayor was reportedly being looked at for U.S. Trade Representative, but Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., took to social media to declare that this too is unacceptable.
“What is so hard to understand about this? Rahm Emanuel helped cover up the murder of Laquan McDonald,” AOC tweeted. “Covering up a murder is disqualifying for public leadership. This is not about the “visibility” of a post. It is shameful and concerning that he is even being considered.”

Turns out that while Emanuel was a trusted Obama aide, he suffers from a common ailment in post-Obama America, sometimes called “white man disease.”
Ocasio-Cortez essentially accused Emanuel of accessory to murder over his role in the 2014 death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald — when Rahm was mayor, the city of Chicago fought the release of a dash-cam video of the black teen, who was armed with a knife, being shot by police.
(The officer who shot McDonald would be found guilty of second-degree murder.)
In a follow-up tweet, AOC insisted that opposing Emanuel wasn’t a “progressive, far-left” position.
“It is also a truly embarrassing indictment of what’s considered “center” politics in the US that objecting to the appointment of an official who helped cover up the murder of a Black child is deemed the ‘progressive, far left’ position,” she tweeted.
Bernie Bros. Inc., responded to that tweet to state: “Rahm Emanuel does not deserve public dollars. He does not serve the public. He never has.”

Congressman-elect Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., who becomes the token male member of the “squad,” also commented on who Biden should or should not be considering, even though he has yet to take office.
Bowman tweeted: “Rahm Emanuel should not be considered for any position within the Biden administration.”

Speaking of the “squad,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., also nixed an Emanuel role in a Biden administration.
"Less visible role" doesn't sound good either.
The people of Chicago said it best.

Seems Biden is learning real quick that there’s a big difference between attacking those making the hard decisions to govern with baseless accusations and having to make those decisions — at least he still has the media firmly in his corner.
Meanwhile, Rahm Emanuel’s former boss, Barack Obama, remains eerily quiet.
