In a now-deleted tweet, an otherwise obscure liberal writer seemingly has joined the chorus of those who want to target supporters of President Donald Trump for some kind of retaliation.
New York Magazine senior art critic Jerry Saltz took to Twitter on Saturday to provide this form of political craftsmanship that appears to demonstrate more Trump Derangement Syndrome even after the corporate media anointed Joe Biden as the next president.
“Republicanism is no longer a political problem; Republicanism is a social problem. It must be treated in the same way coronavirus is treated: it has to be isolated and snuffed-out by repressing it in about 70% of the general population,” Saltz wrote, without evidence, as the media likes to say.
On Red State, in what might be an overstatement, a writer characterized this proposal as sounding “a lot like genocide.”
Parenthetically, a significant divergence exists between conventional Republicanism and the American First, populist MAGA movement embodied by Trump and the millions who voted for him in 2016 and 2020.
That aside, for those who cherish free speech, always-on-alert conservative actor James Wood made a screenshot of the Jerry Saltz tweet before it disappeared, adding the caption “nut job.”

The diatribe from Saltz, a writer who is a Pulitzer Prize winner of all things, prompted some major pushback on the social media platform. Here is just a sample, which included a partial walk-back:

Saltz is not the only leftist who is calling for some type of un-American payback over political disagreements.
A California-based member of the Democratic National Committee, in the hierarchy of the party of tolerance, has called for the authoritarian “deprogramming” of 75 million Trump supporters in a perhaps unhinged social media rant about conspiracy theories and accusations of COVID denial.
