After meeting privately at the White House this Friday with President Donald Trump, Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield issued a statement saying they personally are unaware at this time of any widespread election malfeasance in the Great Lake State.

However, they admitted that investigations are still ongoing.

“The Senate and House Oversight Committees are actively engaged in a thorough review of Michigan’s elections process and we have faith in the committee process to provide greater transparency and accountability to our citizens,” they said in a joint statement.

“We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan’s electors, just as we have said throughout this election.”

The statement likely came as a shocker to members of the media, some of whom had fear-mongered beforehand that the “likely agenda” of the meeting would involve “the felony of attempting to bribe a public official,” as one Politico contributor had put it.

But that’s not what happened.

“A person familiar with Friday’s meeting said the session was cordial as the group explained to the President the process for certifying the election and assigning electors in their state,” CNN reported after the meeting concluded.

Trump did not apply any overt pressure on the lawmakers to try and shift electors from Biden to himself, or to prevent the vote from being certified, the person familiar with the meeting said, but the President did appear interested in the explanation the lawmakers offered.”

This too shouldn’t have been shocking.

Ever since Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden was prematurely declared the winner of the 2020 presidential race, the president has been calling for investigations into the results on the grounds that they may have been tainted by impropriety, malfeasance and possibly even outright fraud. The president has also filed a number of suits, many of which remain pending. All of these actions have been legal.

(Worst case scenario, Trump will be back, Jack!)

With only days remaining until the battleground state of Michigan must certify its own results for the 2020 presidential election, this week the president scheduled a meeting with Shirkey and Chatfield to discuss the process of certification.

This triggered unsubstantiated allegations that the president was planning to bribe or pressure the pair into doing his so-called “bidding.”

The unsubstantiated allegations also provoked a mob into tailing Shirkey after he arrived at the Reagan International Airport in Washington, D.C.

Look:

But as the pair’s statement and CNN’s reporting has confirmed, the president had just been wanting a progress update.

Continuing their statement, Shirkey and Chatfield also took aim at the left-wing zealots who’ve been applying “threats and intimidation” against election officials.

“Michigan’s certification process should be a deliberate process free from threats and intimidation. Allegations of fraudulent behavior should be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and if proven, prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” they said.

Leftists view things differently. They believe it’s mandatory for Republicans to automatically accept the results of the 2020 election, despite hundreds of affidavits referencing thousands of alleged acts of voting impropriety and fraud.

The irony is that leftists had no qualms about accepting the since-debunked Russian collusion delusion hoax and conspiracy theory despite a glaring lack of affidavits.

“Remember, during this whole Russia collusion thing, they had zero eyewitness testimony to say that I saw the Trump campaign collude with Russia. Rudy Giuliani says he has hundreds of sworn affidavits that say they witnessed corruption, so you got to let this play out,” Fox News’ Jesse Watters noted early this week on Fox News’ “The Five.”

Following Shirkey and Chatfield’s meeting with Trump, the same leftists who’d predicted they’d be bribed into changing the election results in Michigan on his behalf suddenly burst into celebration, convinced that the battle was finally over.

But as noted by the two, investigations remain ongoing. So do several lawsuits. Moreover, even more suits are on their way.

“A national conservative group announced Friday it plans to file more lawsuits in Michigan and other U.S. swing states regarding election results,” the Detroit Free Press confirmed Friday.

“The Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society is the group working alongside President Donald Trump’s campaign to spearhead national and state lawsuits, according to a news release.”
