Ingraham: Democrats are trying to ‘shame you’ into canceling holiday plans, threatening jail in Oregon

Fox News host Laura Ingraham opened Tuesday’s episode of “The Ingraham Angle” with a focus on “The Thanksgiving Police.”

With COVID-19 surging in some areas of the country, Ingraham highlighted the rank hypocrisy of Democrats who have always advocated against government intrusion in our private lives.

“Liberals who worship at the altar of Fauci have no problem reaching into your homes and demanding that you behave in a certain way,” she noted. “Socializing with people outside of your immediate cohort or family or your bubble is verboten. And if you had Thanksgiving plans, they want to shame you into canceling them.”

Ingraham called attention to restrictions put in place in California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom is restricting who you may invite into your home, how many, and even how long they may stay. Residents there are encouraged to not sing, chant or shout.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, also a Democrat, suggested serving Thanksgiving dinner over Zoom.

“Blue state governors loved the power that came with the first lockdowns last spring,” she added. “And they seem, once again, to relish the prospect of controlling our most intimate choices.”

In pointing out that some liberals want to cancel Thanksgiving altogether, Ingraham reminded her viewers that “the left hated our cherished holidays and traditions long before Covid.”

She said the election was a choice between liberty and lockdowns, and that in many blue states across America, we are heading for rolling lockdowns of various degrees.

Never mind that lockdowns and wearing masks did not stop the virus before.

“The virus is a terrible tragedy but unfortunately one that we’re going to have to learn to live with, using smart, narrowly-tailored, simple health measures,” Ingraham said.

Ingraham shared how Democrats in some areas advocated for neighbors to turn in neighbors for violating pandemic restrictions, even rewarding snitches.

“If you don’t have curtains or blinds on your dining room window, you may want to get some before Thanksgiving,” she said. “Now why? Because you are not capable of making your own risk assessments. The government must make them for you, so just sit down, self isolate, and shut up. Do what they say, or else.”

As for hypocrisy, in Oregon, residents can protest to their heart’s delight, but getting together family and friends may result in going to jail.

Democratic Gov. Kate Brown issued a two-week freeze order that limits indoor and outdoor gatherings to no more than six people from no more than two households in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Fox News reported.

“For the last eight months I have been asking Oregonians to follow the letter and the spirit of the law and we have not chosen to engage law enforcement,” Brown said. “At this point in time, unfortunately, we have no other option.”

Gov. Brown said she would enlist the help of state police and local law enforcement to ensure residents comply with her mandate.  Reported violators may face up to 30 days in jail and/or $1,250 in fines.

Faith-based gatherings of more than 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors are not allowed in Brown’s order, which makes no reference to protests.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, summed it up well in a tweet: “In Oregon, you can be jailed for having too many people over for Thanksgiving. But if you want to riot and loot in Portland, no sweat!”
