The Washington Post’s sources claim that Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden is considering appointing the one and only former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations if he wins the 2020 race.
“One intriguing name being discussed privately is former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, according to the person familiar with the chatter who spoke on the condition of anonymity,” the Post reported Thursday.
“The thinking behind the move was that it would be a way for Biden to highlight the importance of that position in his administration and that placing her there would raise the prestige of the U.N. itself at a time when global cooperation, and the U.S. role on the world stage, has ebbed.”
The report triggered a range of different responses.
Some liberals celebrated it:
Hillary would be great! She is so loved, respected and admired throughout the World. Hillary would bring dignity back to America.

Other liberals cautioned that it was a bad idea:
Honestly, I think that would be a mistake. He needs to include fresh young voices. We don’t need a lightning rod with the situation being what it is. No disrespect to Sec. Clinton, her service or her xp but I hope he doesn’t do this.

You get the picture.
One unusual response came from former Obama administration National Security Advisor Susan Rice, who’s reportedly being considered to replace Secretary of State Mike Pompeo — but again only if and when Biden actually wins the 2020 race.
Responding to the Post’s reporting, on Thursday she wrote in a tweet that appointing Clinton to serve as ambassador would be “an insult” to her. Why? Apparently, because Clinton is too good for such a supposedly low-level role?

But some might argue that the reverse holds true — that Clinton isn’t good enough to serve in such a relatively high-level role, let alone any role.
After she left the Department of State in 2013, she was exposed and investigated for the “extremely careless” way in which she’d handled herself at the agency — particularly before and during the 2012 terror attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
“We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who serve in harm’s way. That did not happen in Benghazi,” Pompeo, who at the time had been serving as a House representative from Kansas, said in 2016.
“Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans, and while the administration had made excuses and blamed the challenges posed by time and distance, the truth is that they did not try.”
The remarks were made after the then-GOP-led Congress published a damning 800-page report documenting how the incompetence of Clinton and others in the Obama administration had failed to prevent and stop the Benghazi terror attack.
Two years earlier, Clinton had tried to preemptively apologize for her failures.
“My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi. … It was a terrible tragedy, losing four Americans. … I mean, you know, you make these choices based on imperfect information. And you make them to, as we say, the best of your ability. But that doesn’t mean that there’s not going to be unforeseen consequences, unpredictable twists and turns,” she’d said.
At the time, current far-left commentator Jennifer Rubin — who in 2014 was still a sane woman and hadn’t been afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome — wrote a scathing column tearing into the former secretary of state.

“[I]f you didn’t know better, you would never have guessed from Clinton’s spiel that she was actually in charge of the State Department at the time. Her nonapology apology not only offered no admission of fault or personal responsibility, it made her sound like the victim,” Rubin opined.
“Incomplete information? Yeah, who knew Stevens was pleading for help and that Benghazi had become a terrorist haven? If a real newsperson had been there, a panoply of tough follow-up questions could have been asked.”
And so a woman like this who was unwilling to offer an “admission” of guilt or take any “personal responsibility” really fit to represent America abroad?
How about a woman who’d used an unsecured private email server that was reportedly locked away in a bathroom to transmit and receive classified State Department intelligence? Is she deserving of any government role?
