A police chief in a small Arkansas community has resigned after allegedly making threatening posts online aimed at “Marxist Democrats.”
Posts on social media platform Parler under the name of then-Marshall Police Chief Lang Holland, posted on Twitter by KATV correspondent Viktoria Capek, called for “death to all Marxist Democrats.”

“When this is over and Trump is president for 4 more years,” said an account in Holland’s name.
“Do not go to sleep. Do not forget what these Marxist Democrat bastards have tried to do. When you see one in public get in their face do not give them any peace. Throw water on them at restaurants. Push them off sidewalks. Never let them forget they are traitors and have no rights [sic] to live in this Republic after what they have done,” the post noted further.
“Death to all Marxist Democrats. Take no prisoners. Leave no survivors!” the account added in response to another user.
But a separate account linked to Holland denied that he made the posts calling for violence.

Since made, another Parler account was made under “Lang Holland” claiming to be the real chief, stating the other account is fake and did not represent things he stood for as a “protector of all citizens” pic.twitter.com/IPdbrh68s4

“I am NOT an ignorant, violent, racist Trump disciple like I have been depicted,” the new account said, as documented by Capek. “I actually lean hard left on most issues BUT I am professional so my political beliefs would never affect my duty to protect ALL citizens in my jurisdiction.”
Capek said an attempt to contact the Marshall Police Department was unsuccessful. Also, the department’s Facebook page was taken down and remained that way on Monday, as of this writing.
That said, the City of Marshall posted a letter from the mayor, Kevin Elliott, who announced that Holland was no longer employed as police chief.
Elliott wrote that the city “strongly condemns” Holland’s posts, adding that “his remarks in no way reflect City Government of the people of Marshall Arkansas.”
“The Marshall community does not in any way support or condone bullying or threats of violence to anyone of any political persuasion! We condemn it! We are a welcoming community that is humbly working to build a bright future for ALL our citizens, whether they be long-term residents or new arrivals,” he added. “Any statements to the contrary do NOT reflect the values” of the city.
Elliott noted further that he consulted with city attorneys “for legal advice” before confronting Holland over his alleged posts.
“Upon meeting with Mr. Holland he resigned as Police Chief” of the city “effective immediately.”
“Mr. Holland is no longer employed with the city,” the mayor added. “The Marshall Police force is here to serve and protect EVERYONE. Working together we believe we have strong future [sic] and a great town.”
Previously, Holland drew national attention in July as a law enforcement official who refused to enforce a mask mandate in response to COVID-19.
“All I’m saying is if you want to wear a mask, you have the freedom to choose that,” Holland, who said he is a supporter of President Donald Trump, told The Associated Press in July. “It should not be dictated by the nanny state.”
Holland’s comments came in response to a statewide mask mandate ordered by GOP Gov. Asa Hutchison.
