President Donald Trump wasted little time Tuesday morning in criticizing Fox News for coverage the network has given Barack Obama in the days leading up to Election Day.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning via phone, the president was asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade to respond to the former president criticizing him while stumping for Democratic nominee Joe Biden — in an attempt to stir sorely needed excitement, Biden enlisted the aid of his former boss.

“Mr. President, I know you said before that ‘I wouldn’t have gotten in this job if the previous administration wasn’t so bad,’ and some have said Barack Obama’s come out to be the bad cop, to go after you. And one of the things he said last night, ‘He’s going around spreading COVID like he’s a carrier, because he cares more about having big crowds than keeping people safe.’ Do you want to respond to the former president?

“Fortunately he’s drawing flies, he’s not getting anybody to go listen to him too much,” Trump replied, before turning his attention to Fox News. “And Fox puts him on more than anybody else, which is sort of shocking to me because Fox has changed a lot.”

The president went on to say that when asked about the “biggest difference” between the 2016 election and the 2020 election, his answer was Fox News — though he threw a bone to the “Fox & Friends” crew.

“It’s much different,” Trump said of the network. “You still have great people. You’re three of them.”

Kilmeade interjected to explain that unlike the competition, the network tries to show both sides.

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt chimed in to say, “We can’t criticize another network.”

“I don’t think it’s an endorsement of anybody,” Kilmeade further explained, before asking Trump if Obama gets under his skin when he speaks.

But the president had no interest in talking about his predecessor, who oversaw the weaponization of the U.S. intelligence apparatus against him and his campaign.

“In the old days they wouldn’t put on ‘Sleepy Joe Biden every time he had opened his mouth,” Trump said of Fox News. “They had other networks for that, frankly — much different operation, I’m just telling you it’s much different.”

The late Roger Ailes was running the ship in the run up to the 2016 election, before he resigned in July 2016 over numerous sexual harassment allegations being leveled.

Again, Trump praised the “Fox & Friends” crew and others at the network, like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson.

“You have — I think you really have incredible people but it’s much different,” he said, emphasizing that he was not complaining.

“I’m just telling people. It’s one of the biggest differences of this season compared to last,” he said.
