The FBI is reportedly investigating an incident involving apparent supporters of President Donald Trump who used their vehicles to surround and escort a Joe Biden campaign bus on Friday.
According to various reports, the incident, video of which went viral on social media, occurred on Interstate 35 in Hays County. According to Democrats, it led the Biden-Harris campaign to cancel additional events in a historically red state some pollsters say is in play this election cycle.
Several video clips posted online show dozens of vehicles bearing American and “Trump 2020” flags leading and trailing behind the bus as it drove from San Antonio to Austin. Some of the images show the bus straddling two lanes of the interstate.
One video also showed an SUV that was believed to have been driven by a Biden-Harris campaign staffer with damage alongside the vehicle following a minor collision. But it too appeared to straddle a lane before easing into a pickup truck being driven by a Trump supporter.
President Donald Trump tweeted out some video of the caravan surrounding the bus with, “I LOVE TEXAS!”

State Democrats lambasted the Trump-supporter caravan claiming the stunt was meant to intimidate supporters of the former vice president.
“They ran into a person’s car, yelling curse words and threats. Don’t let bullies win, vote,” wrote Katie Naranjo, chairwoman of the Travis County Democratic Party, on Twitter.

“Rather than engage in productive conversation about the drastically different visions that Joe Biden and Donald Trump have for our country, Trump supporters in Texas [Friday] instead decided to put our staff, surrogates, supporters, and others in harm’s way,” Tariq Thowfeek, the campaign’s Texas communications director, said.
Officials with the Kyle Police Department said in a statement to KXAN they began receiving reports around 4 p.m. on Friday claiming that two or more vehicles made contact while traveling north on the interstate. Officers responded but no one stopped to share information.
A law enforcement official confirmed to the Texas Tribune that the FBI was looking into the incident.
State GOP officials dismissed the reports, however.
“Three Trump supporters have been executed, one in Portland, one in Denver, and one Milwaukee. A leftist mob attempted to storm the house of the McCloskeys, threatened to burn their house down, rape Mrs. McCloskey, and then kill them both,” Texas Republican Party Chairman Allen West, a retired U.S. Army officer and former U.S. lawmaker from Florida, told the Tribune in a statement.
“Where is the liberal corporate media’s concern about that real violence? Additionally, none of what your question implies is accurate. It is more fake news and propaganda. Prepare to lose … stop bothering me,” he continued, adding: “Maybe Soros can cut y’all another check in 2022.”
Also, One America News’ Jack Prosobiec tweeted a second view of the contact between the two vehicles in which it appears the SUV drifts into the lane of the pickup truck.

“It seems the left always takes a situation where they are in the wrong and twist and spin it as if they are the poor victims. That is projection and they are masters at it. Well, until there is video evidence showing the truth,” a Twitter user known as John Smith commented.

Democratic state Rep. Sheryl Cole claimed in a tweet that a planned joint event with the group Austin Young Democrats was subsequently canceled for “security reasons.”
“Unfortunately, Pro-Trump Protestors have escalated well beyond safe limits. Sorry to all who looked forward to this fun event,” she added.
The Biden-Harris campaign also canceled multiple remaining events in Texas after the Friday incident, which seems odd considering the state is supposed to be up for grabs, according to some national polling, and there are only a few days left before Election Day on Tuesday.
