It started on October 12. President Trump began his sprint to the finish line. Trump’s three-week strategy recognizes that elections are generally won and lost during the few days right before election day. Because of all of the early voting, a few days now means a few weeks.
Trump did get sidetracked by the Coronavirus. But as a strong leader routinely does, he confronted the virus head-on. He quickly beat it and then got on with life. As soon as he was medically cleared, he started the sprint that will carry him to victory.
The polls are more inaccurate today than they were in 2016. There are a couple of reasons for that. One is that the sample used in the polls doesn’t match the population, usually having a disproportion of anti-Trumpers. Secondly, there are a vast number of Trump supporters who are reluctant to express their views in a survey, even more today than in 2016.
I would estimate that there is a three to five percent swing, meaning in the polls that show Biden with a less than a 6% lead, he is probably behind. But even in the biased polls, Biden’s lead is shrinking. The enthusiasm is swinging heavily in Trump’s favor, mostly because of the rallies Trump is holding.
When it comes time to vote, there will also be a substantial number of voters who thought they supported Biden. But when they get into the voting booth or fill out the mail-in ballot, Trump will be their choice.
The reasons are simple. Americans are most concerned with the state of the economy and national security. On those two issues, voters know that the president has the right policies. Trump took an economy that was slowly trotting along for nearly a decade and turned into a dynamo where nearly all Americans found opportunity.
Americans know that Trump is bringing back the economy. Biden’s policies that raise taxes while re-distributing income away from those that earned it and toward those who haven’t earned it, will lead to economic stagnation. And any increase the role of government is simply counter-productive.
On national security, voters remember that during the Obama/Biden administration ISIS had a huge caliphate where they routinely captured and beheaded Americans. At the same time, Russia invaded and annexed part of Ukraine. North Korea was firing long-range missiles over Japan and South Korea. And Iran was flush with billions in cash which they used to finance terrorism in the Middle East.
Those threats have been dealt with. ISIS was eliminated and their leader killed. North Korea has slowed their activity, while they are admittedly very difficult to negotiate with. Russia has been sanctioned and Ukraine has been armed to defend itself.
Iran is on the verge of economic collapse and will be forced to deal with the US right after the election. Americans feel much safer today than they felt four years ago.
The economic and security issues favor Trump.
The Dems have blamed the entire Coronavirus issue on Trump. That strategy was initially effective, but may not be as big an issue as the Dems had hoped. We know that up to four vaccines are in the final stages meaning that doses should become available before the end of the year.
Although the number of Coronavirus cases is increasing, the severity of the cases is lessening with lower percentages of hospitalizations and fatalities.
Also boosting Trump is the revelation that the Biden family looks to have been corrupt during the time Joe Biden was Vice-President. It appears that Biden’s family profited by selling access to the vice-president.
It is remarkable that the president is doing as well as he is. The mainstream media continues their negative and biased “reporting” on Trump every day. Just last Sunday the New York Times devoted its entire 10-page review section to bashing Trump. While they are certainly entitled to their opinions, they are not entitled to their own facts. Most of the opinions were based on a very biased interpretation of events.
Trump’s three-week sprint strategy will carry him to victory. His coattails may be long enough to flip the House and increase the GOP majority in the Senate. That means the policies that were making America great again will continue and maybe the move to Socialism will be ended once and for all.
