‘If I go to prison, I don’t look cute in stripes’: Undercover sting alleges to bust ‘ballot harvesting racket’ in Texas

Project Veritas dropped a video Tuesday on what the conservative watchdog group called “a ballot harvesting racket deep in the heart of Texas.”

An undercover journalist with the group accompanied a “ballot chaser” who is seen on video coercing voters to change their ballot and even offering gifts.

“We keep hearing voter fraud is a myth and anyone who challenges that notion is simply creating hysteria,” said Project Veritas founder and CEO James O’Keefe.

“I went to Texas to be part of the Project Veritas investigation into election fraud and to be on the ground here with our undercover journalists,” he added. “Our journalists discovered a voter fraud system positioned to swing Texas in 2020.”

The clip above features Raquel Rodriguez, a political consultant supposedly working for GOP House candidate Mauro E. Garza, who is harvesting ballots, even though it’s illegal in Texas.

“We have Raquel on tape coercing voters to vote the right way, as well as bribing these voters with gifts,” O’Keefe said.

The tape was acquired when an undercover Project Veritas journalist paid $500 to accompany Rodriguez on her rounds to collect ballots.

The consultant is seen examining a woman’s ballot and convincing her to change her vote from incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, to Democratic challenger MJ Hegar.

Reviewing the ballot, Rodriguez pointed out to the elderly woman that she voted for a Republican and the woman asked if she can do that.

“You can do, you can vote for whoever you want,” she replied. “But our conversation that we had, you said you were voting for Hegar, because you were going straight Democrat…. so that when you’re voting for the straight Dem — ‘cause that’s what you want to do, correct?”

Rodriguez then walks her through how to change her vote.

In another clip, she is seen giving the woman a nice shawl.

Later, Rodriguez acknowledged in the car that what she just did was “against the law.”

She is then seen talking to another undercover Project Veritas journalist, expressing apprehension over what the person accompanying her saw.

“What I do picking up those ballots when he was with me – that’s illegal. I could go to jail. I’m a little apprehensive to tell anybody what I’m f**king doing, you know what I’m saying? And again, once he works with me once, he’s gonna say—”

The two go back and forth a bit about how President Trump was actually right in talking about illegal activity going on in regard to voting.

Rodriguez boasted about “bringing at least 7,000 votes to the polls,” saying she drops off bundles of ballots at different post offices to avoid suspicion.

“So, if ya’ll are my seniors, I’m literally picking you up. I’m going to your house, you’re doing your ballot,” she said. “I go throughout the entire city. If I have a bunch of them, what I do if I have a bunch of them, I’ll take 20 here, 30 here, 40 here.”

Telling the second undercover reporter not to tell anyone what she’s doing, Rodriguez said, “If I go to prison I don’t look cute in stripes, and I would hate you forever.”
