Democratic nominee Joe Biden experienced more confusion Sunday, seemingly forgetting who he was running against and misstating the details of his own policies — which may help explain why, with eight days to go, the Biden campaign is calling lids before most Americans eat lunch, as was the case on Sunday.

As for flubbing Trump’s name, his allies in the media tried to rescue Biden by claiming he was referring to raging liberal comedian George Lopez, who was on the same Zoom call.

Flanked by wife/handler Jill Biden, the 77-year-old former vice president was talking about what kind of country America is going to be if Trump gets reelected — only he twice uttered the name “George.”

“…What kind of country we’re gonna be,” the Democratic nominee said. “Four more years of George uh… George uh… he uh — we’re gonna find ourselves in a position where if Trump gets elected we’re going to be, we’re going to be in a different world,” said Biden.

For the record, President George W. Bush, who Biden was presumably recalling, has not been in office for 12 years now.

If you look closely, Jill Biden appeared to be mouthing something under her breath — Trump’s name? — as her husband flubbed the name of his opponent.

President Trump responded tweeted early Monday that Biden “couldn’t remember my name.”

“Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview,” he tweeted. “The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!”

In a 60 Minutes interview aired Sunday, Biden was offering “free” college education for all when he misstated the cost of the program.

“I can send every qualified person to a 4 year college in their state for $150 billion,” Biden said. “I can make sure every single person who qualifies for community college can go and we’d still have a lot of money left over.”

CBS News host Norah O’Donnell told viewers that after the interview, Biden’s staff “told us he misspoke and that the cost of free public college could be twice as much as he said.”

Somewhat surprisingly, given the industry standard, O’Donnell fact checked Biden’s claim that the trade deficit with China is higher now than when he was in office.

O’Donnell interjected that the trade deficit was “lower in 2019 than it was during the last three years of the Obama administration.”

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
