A 2014 email sent to Hunter Biden and then-business partner Devon Archer from another business associate sought help in removing a photograph of then-Vice President Joe Biden from the website of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.
“Hey guys,” says the email from Eric Schwerin, TownHall reported. “There is apparently a photo of Devon and the VP on Burisma’s website (I can’t see it – the website isn’t working very well right now) but Demetra (VP Counsel) called and asked that we tell Burisma they need to take it down (legally they aren’t comfortable with the VP’s picture being up on the site as what seems like an endorsement).”
At the time, both Hunter Biden and Archer were serving on the board of Burisma. Hunter Biden was reportedly being paid more than $80,000 a month and served at the same time his vice president father was the Obama administration’s point man for Ukraine.
Joe Biden has repeatedly denied having any knowledge of his son’s business dealings in Ukraine or elsewhere.
According to a deep dive into a trove of emails by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson last week that were first published by the New York Post, Joe Biden “had more influence over the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian economy than any other person on the globe outside of Eastern Europe.”
“Biden’s younger son, Hunter, knew that and hoped to get rich from his father’s influence,” he added, noting that his program had “obtained another batch of emails, some exclusively.”
Roughly two years after the email from Schwerin, Joe Biden flew to Ukraine to essentially kill a corruption probe into Burisma after the company’s executives contacted Hunter Biden seeking assistance. The elder Biden would brag about that during a 2018 conference held by the Council on Foreign Affairs, which was captured on video.
Carlson noted that a 2015 email from Vadym Pozharskyi to Hunter expressed a desire to “be on the same page re our final goals … including, but not limited to: a concrete course of actions,” requesting that the Obama administration “act on Burisma’s behalf,” Carlson explained.
The objective of positive messages and support was to “close down for [sic] any cases/pursuits” against top Burisma officials by Ukrainian corruption investigators.
“It couldn’t be clearer what they wanted. Burisma wanted Hunter Biden’s father to get their company out of legal trouble with the Ukrainian government. And that’s exactly what happened,” Carlson said.
He noted that his team had uncovered a 2015 email that was sent to Hunter Biden a month after the communication from Pozharskyi from Blue Star Strategies, a Washington, D.C.-based public relations firm hired to lobby the Obama administration on Ukraine’s behalf.
“So here you have a PR firm involved in an official White House foreign policy call. How could that happen? Good question. But it worked,” Carlson noted, adding that a few days later, Joe Biden flew to Ukraine and threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if the government of then-President Pedro Poroshenko didn’t fire the top prosecutor who was investigating corruption allegations at Burisma.
If accurate, it was a classic quid pro quo, which is what Democrats accused President Donald Trump of doing in a phone call with current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last year — an accusation borne out in a transcript of the call the White House released.
Nonetheless, Democrats impeached the president for it.
Regarding the trove of emails his team reviewed, Carlson said, “Not one word of this story has been debunked, not one word in those emails has been ‘debunked.’ And if it is debunked, we’ll be the first to report it because we’re not liars.”
